It's pretty much useless because studios don't properly flag their scenes with the most basic tags.

Gay studios in particular, often forget to add "gay" to their scenes.

And because their movies are not tagged properly,
it really doenst matter how many filters you add, enable and disable.
"Shit" we dont want persist on the homepage.

Another problem is that studios also add tags, of things that sell,
without actually offering said content in the movie.

For example:
"Balls deep", where there is none,
"3+ on 1" or "gangbang" for scenes with more than one girl.

Also, there are tags that don't even exist despite being featured in movies.

Like "hair-pulling"

This makes the system unreliable and not trust worthy.

And this issues have been present since forever.
This shit wont fix itself until Porbox staffs itself with people who take this seriously 8 hours a day.

Thanks for looking to add new features. Time will tell how much I use it but at first glance the option to save custom sets of filters that can then be selected from a drop-down looks nice to have.

Incorrect tags is certainly an issue as mentioned. Playing about the new features yesterday I spotted a DAP scene labelled as 1 on 1 for example. There doesn't currently seem to be any way for users to report inappropriate tags? I get that it would likely be far too much work to manually check every individual report but maybe a system where if enough users flag the same thing then an admin gets a notification to assess it it could work?

On the tag front, would it be possible to add a tag that could be used for the growing number of 'behind the scenes' versions of scenes being released? It's becoming much more common to have two versions of the same scene appearing and I'd like to be able to filter to be able to just see the actual scenes but without a tag there is no way to do so. Fans of this version of scenes would probably like to be able to filter specifically to find them too.

I'm not convinced that the 'Most Sold' option on the Custom page is working correctly. With no filters selected it shows the 4th most sold scene to be the following for example, which whilst I like Barcelona I just can't believe.

If I go to Analvids without being logged in I see a very different best-seller list. I know that studios I've chosen to hide appear to be hidden from most-sold views (which I think is good) but I haven't hidden the likes of Gonzo or Giorgio Grandi.

I find the 'highlights' for things like price, duration and ownership that show on top of each scene's image on the pornbox pages helpful. I think it would also be helpful if another to indicate when a scene had been added to my wishlist could be added. The principle reason being if I'm looking for new interesting scenes then I'd know not to click on these to check out again when I've already noted them as scenes I'd like.

^Wow, the removal of the BTS clutter is worth the feature upgrade by itself for me. I would get so pissed looking for new scenes with a model I liked just to find it was a BTS scene. Thanks for fixing this issue.

Pretty much everyone uses the teen tag incorrectly. Most of them should use the young woman tag for 20+ women.

I've also noticed NRX uses the double fist tag on a lot of scenes, but I don't think they know what it means, so it's not malicious.

Tags are all over the place to the point I don’t even look at them anymore. Virtually every studio just randomly adds a bunch of tags to the scenes (that’s what it looks like to me anyway), whether they are present in the final product or not.

Same goes basically for the often abysmal naming of scenes (scenes often feature less or more guys than the title suggests, model names are horrifically butchered, overall bad spelling etc). Different issue altogether, but all in all these two issues combined at partially explain the many, many comments about how amateuristic and confusing the site looks these days. If people have to pay more than before, it’s not unreasonable to at least expect some kind of minimal standard under which a scene gets published. It would certainly help raise the overall customer experience…

I agree what other people are saying about the tags not being accurate too. It does seem like studios just throw genres\fetishes\categories to see if they can catch our attention. Here are 3 examples but I can give many more:

Gay content tagged with DP, how can a scene with 3 men perform a DP ? I have no clue but that is what it is tagged.

Something I thought of during my commute today: why isn't there a maximum number of tags that can be used for a scene? Say 15 or 20 at most? It would at least force the content creator (whether a real studio or an amateur production) to think about what they want to add and only add what is actually relevant, instead of just copy/pasting the full set of tags and call it a day.

I mean, look at this. Who needs this many tags for a single scene?

But it happens, for sure, more than once per week.

How is THAT woman, qualifiying for "BEAUTY"

PornBox needs a third party, that tag movies, independently from studios.
It's the only way this can be relaible and truthful.

From the studios that I pay attention to, Giorgio Grandi is the biggest tag abuser, IMO.
Gonzo is the the opposite, almost no tags to describe their movies.

@YumYum74 makes a good point about the number of tags often being ridiculous, and I rarely look at them as a result. Most commonly I sometimes check is if a scene actually has anal in it or not, which oddly doesn't actually seem to be a given even for the Anal Porn Pornbox choice I have selected. When I notice incorrect tags is generally only where when I choose to use filters. As well as studios not picking too many tags I actually think the number of available tags could helpfully be streamlined.

As a quick example of useless mis-tagging, this scene is apparently 1 on 1, 2 on 1 and 3+ on 1:

It also stupidly isn't tagged with Spanking, or the seemingly equivalent Ass clap tag (why have both?), so I've suggested it.

(I like the studio and this is a common issue so this really is just an example not wanting to single them out.)

The body type options selected alone demonstrate issues both of contradictory selections, and some that I really wonder about the value of existing in the first place:

Hot bod, crazy curves, chubby, fit body, skinny, skinny body, slim body, slim waist.

Other sets of tags with contradictions include:

0% pussy AND pussy fucking
Brown pussy AND pink pussy
Circular anal gape AND square anal gape AND triangular anal gape

The 'jerk buddies', 'clitty' and 'rough trade' tags are nonsense if they mean what I think they do.

I do wonder about the existence of all of the pussy description options to begin with, which has lead to all of these being chosen:

Beefy pussy lips, big pussy, big pussy lips, meaty pussy lips, odd pussy, puffy pussy lips and large labia.

Oh, and finally this is one of 2093 scenes tagged with 'real ass'. Does this tag really have any use?

It is very heartening to see xxx posting here with some regularity.

I just want to reiterate what some here are saying - please ensure studios are accurately titling and tagging their productions. This in combination with this new feature will greatly
benefit the user. I do get sick of seeing scenes titled as 'Teen' when the stars in the scene are mid-20s. Nothing wrong with either scene, but annoying when things are deliberately misleading in a title.

Its not just about wanting to hide content you dislike. I have genuinely missed new releases because its hard to see them amid the clutter.

Perfect !!! I can finally remove the clutter of all the BTS scenes I was never going to buy. Also the filtering in the Custom homepage is not perfect but the ability to save multiple filters selection and recall them with a single click is great. All that is left now is improve how all the studio tag their content so there is a standard across AnalVids and members can quickly find what they are looking for.

Almost forgot to say thanks for adding the BTS tag across the site. It was a pain looking through studio content with that BTS stuff I was never going to buy. Xfreax studio has 153 released scenes but 69 of them are BTS So much clutter gone!

I just want to note that in my opinion allowing people to control what scenes they see does not diminish them finding new content.

People tend to look for new content when they are bored or fed up with what they already have.
By contrast, no amount of gay porn, or solo camgirl scenes are ever going to be something I purchase here. Its not why I ever was here, its not the content Im looking for here.

The only thing that content does, is make it frustrating and quite often unappealing to sift through and find the scenes from the studios I want to support.
If people really want that content they will find it.

So this new filter system is a great idea, and its genuinely good its been added.

I feel studios are checking posts her more than we might think, just most directors dont answer or discuss anymore. Many of them are just too busy and/or fed up with negativity and always same questions/demands and fans residence to basic truths about this biz.

It would help, however, if posters would address special studio wishes in the studio sub forums.
And of course it wouldn't harm if studios still also read the General forum here!

It's nice to occasionally see that a producer is checking in but when I post a comment/suggestion I certainly don't expect to get an individual response. I'm just one customer out of (hopefully) many after all.

This is actually another example of where a simple forum 'like' feature would be good. In that it would provide a way for a producer to acknowledge a post without specifically writing a response to it. It would be good much more widely too of course, to increase the sense of forum interaction. I don't quote and post 'I agree' every time I do, in part as it just clutters up forums. I'm sure most posters would appreciate simple likes as acknowledgement though.

but I think his perspective is short sighted.

I think the tags should be an accurate and detailed representation of the movie, more tags equals better in my view,
such that when uers are using the search engine or the filters, we can scavange the entire catalogue,
easily and efficiently, to find and buy exactly what we want, without expending a considerable amount of time
or getting frustrated by seeing content that is just the opposite of each individual preference.

There is such a huge swing in variety in the store,
that sometimes, you open the pornbox, see something that is just right,
or rather, JUST WRONG, that frustrates you so much,
that you quit immidiately. For me, is gay content, for example.

Moving on, I think some tags overlap and cause problems.

For example. Curvy body, Curvy and Chubby.

When I think curvy body, I think "Blanche Bradburry", "Kristy Black" and the likes.

But If I use the tag "curvy body"
I will see a ton of, well... obese women.
Which is the direct opposite of what I wish to see.

So, If I block the "curvy body" tag. I will get rid of a bunch of scenes I would never EVER watch,
which is a good thing for me, buuuuuuut
I wont be able to see some execpcianally hot girls, who for whatever reason, fall in the same category.

This happens with almost any combination of tags.

Ideas to make the current situation, better:

First I think Studios should answer this question.

For which demographic is "THIS" scene for?
answer could be, STRAIGHT, GAY, LEZ, BISEX, TRANS.
(other options as needed)

This can be implemented, by the PORNBOX, in such a way,
that STUDIOS must answer this question, with every upload.
and it must be a "*REQUIRED" field, otherwise you cannot upload the scene to the PORNBOX for sale.

Another question that should be required,
is this an AMATEUR or PROFESIONAL studio?
Simply, I joined a PREMIUM website and I expect certain minimum level of production.
and AMATEURS are simply not good.

ANOTHER IDEA is to anchor tags to models.

For example, say Gonzo is about to release a scene with Mina,
by including MINA as part of the cast, in the upload process, the tags that describe her phisically, are automatically pulled into that scene.

This way, you can add the tags that describe Mina to her model page, once,
Like, Brunette, Slim waist, white girl, submissive, etc, etc,

and everytime you add the tag "MINA" to a scene, those tags are automatically added.
Saving time and boosting accuracy.

Then once a scene is released, community members can if they wish add tags. Not necessarly only those who bought the scene, but those who have spent x-amount $$$ in a period of time, much like the request or direct message system (which ever one uses that).
People who really enjoy using tags are MOST likely to add proper & ACCURATE tags.
Also I've seen tagging systems that allow users to "vote up" or "vote down" tags that are added.
It goes like this:

Tags added start with a base score of 8 out of 10 (every tag has it's own score), each "up vote" brings the score up 1 point. Each "down vote" brings the score down 1 point. Get it?
Should go with out saying, but because some people should be wearing helmets 24/7. You up vote accurate & proper tags, down vote improper/wrong tags. Maybe even add in a 3rd option of "misleading". That way if XXX is as good as his word on the subject, it makes identifying the habitual & repeat offenders easy, which equals less work trying to do so.

XXX You'd be very surprised how much of the "simple or mundane" tasks can be offloaded to a community, you just have to ALLOW US to HELP YOU. Since they're/we're are not here for financial gain, but only our own satisfaction. Having a properly functioning site thats easy to use only ADDS to that satisfaction.

This idea appealed when I first read it but on reflection I think unfortunately it may not be particularly useful as there are very few attributes that might not change for a model if they appear in multiple scenes over a period of time.

On the current tags front, I wonder if @XXX has access to data on how often users filter by particular tags. I'd guess not but if the data did exist it could help inform what is useful.

Maybe, maybe not. I can't see it being ANY WORSE than currently constructed, not even close...

By basic I mean; sex acts, numbers of girls/guys, body type (make only 4-5 types avail), age group.
That's plenty at first. And leave more specific specialized tags for others to add. Besides, for most who visit everyday or 2, I'm pretty sure they're just going to go physically look at the few scenes they normally do.
To me tag searching is for sorting out a MASSIVE back catalog for what ever tickles your fancy in the moment.
Let's not try to make a "the perfect system" theoretically. Lets get a system that functions as intended and can be tweaked & fine tuned as needed. What's available now I'd imagine is useless (I actually don't use tags).
