Spanish government subsidized all the public and private media with about 15M€ (that’s a public and official data) so obviously they only talk about what the government wants. Not to mention that half the country is already owned by that psycho of Soros and government and the opposition parties are all them his puppets.

If we are in this situation around the world it's because too many people buy and spread this conspirationist nonsense and don't care one shit about their and others' safety. People prefer to think it's a big conspiracy organized by Soros (LOL! who else could have been!?) or Bill Gates than putting a damn mask, having a minimal hygiene and keeping distance when possible and necessary.
Apparently the only countries to be trusted at the moment are the very democratic and truthful North Korea and Bielorussia, where Covid does not exist, and all the others are ruled by Soros. And this guy Soros apparently has enough money to buy the politicians ruling the whole world, from the left, the right and the centre, all the scientists, even all the doctors and the nurses of covid units in the hospitals. What a big pile of BS

I watch the daily reports from the health officials almost every day and,
they always say that we have beds and ventilators to spare, to treat the most severe cases.
The president comes to the media with reassuring words like "we're OK"
I had no reason to not believe that, until two weeks ago.
I went to a hospital, in Mexico City, called "La Raza"
I'm fine, I was helping someone who got an allergic attack.
and well, what I saw then was terrible.
Dead bodies in the dozens, people getting treated in hallways, sleeping on the floor.
And that was just a quick in and out, I did not take a look at the entire building,
But if you see that, just by entering and moving a few dozen meters... what can you expect from the whole thing.
I had this feeling of dread like death was looming in the air.
Honestly, I think of all people, porn actors, have nothing to worry about.
In particular, the women, who take their health seriously,
some of the male actors are downright obese. but the girls are OK.
All of the people, that I saw in the hospital, at a glance,
looked to be suffering from grade II obesity or worse.
Chubby looking people. Age didn't seem to matter.
My advise would simply be, stop eating sugar and alcohol, reduce as much as possible processed food, eat whole food.
This fucking disease is not going to go away. Until people in general, get healthy, lol.

That's also happened in Brazil. Here the governament are giving money to hospitals that are dealing with covid, so now every person that dies is classified with covid so they can get more money. Thats a true statement cause my auntie has died over a stroke and was classified with covid.
BlueShadow wrote:Well, it's more fault of the governments. I mean, give money for what? They should give respirators, masks, tampons, reagents etc. as they do in Italy and other countries, not money.

I guess my jealousy of the celebration on the Charles Bridge back in early summer was premature. Czechs let their guard down loosening mask restrictions thinking they'd beaten it. Take heed, we cannot let our guard down at all or the virus wins.
Good news is, vaccines are coming, but even so we are still probably 12-24 months to a return to 'normal' life

Well that's Ken and the Colonel gone, who's next? With any luck Ano will continue to self-destruct and they'll be no Ano and no shitty coalition government left soon, just Agent Boures and Zeman on their own, like a couple of old fart Soviet byrokrat.
It's here to stay, nought to do about it, lets get on with our lives. They can't keep this bollocks up forever because there will be civil unrest eventually. It has and never will represent an existential threat to our society or way of life, only the actions by global governments are representing the existential threat. The mortality rate is an irrelevance, https://www.euromomo.eu/graphs-and-maps/, where's the issue? So what, a few spikes, no different than bad flu seasons. Overall the trend is bog standard. The global population continues to grow at unprecedented levels, so no issues there. If you want to hide away from the world waiting for a pointless vaccine, go ahead, just let the rest of us get on with our lives. Meanwhile other more serious diseases with grossly higher mortality rates go untreated and undiagnosed. 800,000 dead from malaria this year alone, supposed deaths from Corona 1,144,255. Honestly who cares, just a drop in the ocean. There will be 150,000,000 million more people born by the end of the year. It's just a numbers game and Corona deaths are a statistical irrelevance. Sure, if you've got a sob story about your fat diabetic uncle dying of corona you'll take it personally, but at the end of the day, whatever, this ain't the zombie apocalypse.

Theres got to be another way. I know I overstepped mark last night re: conspiracy stuff, & someone at LP was decent enough to delete it... but theres got to be another way. I don't speak for myself, I'm what they call front line, plush... blah blah blah... but its killing me to see friends & decent acquaintances lose their livliehoods & any bit of savings over this. Personally, I have helped out ederly friend in the States because we all know how poor socal security system is there... point is, believe me, ordinary people will, over coming months, be looking for not scapegoats, but real disinformative actors over this. When you've nothing to lose, you've nothing to lose... & the first place will be mass media. Maybe its not a bad thing either. For governments, when you strip your core support, i.e. the self-sufficient lower middle class of means - you're taking on something unprecidented. No way am I saying "lets sit back & open the popcorn".

avanfurwet wrote:Malaria and other diseases have higher mortality rates in third-world countries which cannot or will not prevent, diagnose or treat those diseases. Europe and America are mostly untroubled by those problems. Maybe we should care more about third-world problems, but it's a false comparison with Covid. We die of cancer, heart disease and diabetes, but we can't prevent these by stopping transmitting them to each other, so that's also a false comparison to Covid.
Covid today is overloading intensive care units in Europe and America with critically ill patients of all ages and ethnicities, with and without co-morbidities, 50% of whom (if ventilated) will die from pneumonia caused by Covid. Consequently our ICU's become unavailable to patients with other illnesses and injuries.
The problem is not trivial or irrelevant. It's not a drop in the ocean. National mortality rates are running way above trend. ICU capacity cannot be grown fast enough to absorb the demand.
Maybe it would be a good idea for our governments to try to do something about this? Morally, they should care. Cynically, they don't want to lose voters.
Some governments appear to have got some control over this. China (authoritarian leadership) and New Zealand (sane leadership) seem to be doing better than most.
Both locked down early and hard, to prevent people from spreading covid to each other. Which is the only damn thing which works right now.
Problem is it's too late for the rest of us. Our governments lacked the courage to lock down early enough or hard enough. And/or they opened up too much and too fast. Now the genie is out of the bottle. Covid is everywhere.
So most western governments are running about like headless chickens improvising various uncoordinated ever-changing half-arsed tactics which are killing our economies whilst simultaneously failing to halt the spread of the virus. Now we have the worst of all worlds. Politicians are telling us it's a "balancing act".
It's a monumental failure of political leadership.
