Giorgio, could you provide the formula? If we know the formula the discussion becomes more meaningful.

The most fair way to do it I think would be:
Gross margin=Total revenue (price*sales)-cost of scene (use proxy for x number of performers)
Take the average of the latest scenes (maximum 5).

I'd also like to know what their formula is.

I think Giorgio suggested it's unit sales for the model's best selling solo scene?

I think unit sales is the only valid metric for a model's popularity.

I don't think profitability or even revenue has anything to do with it.

2 silly examples, exaggerated for illustration;
If they paid some celebrity $1 million to make a scene, they could sell a lot of units (popular) but still make a loss.
Conversely, if they booked a model and paid her only $100, her scene could have low unit sales (unpopular) but still make a good profit margin.

Disagree!
If you don't consider the price of the scene it doesn't indicate profitability. If the scene is underpriced it will look more attractive. A higher priced scene selling less might still make more money in total.

a porn site will cater to the tastes of the whole industry.
I know what I want to watch and it is relatively specific. I can't expect a whole bunch of scenes to be for me.
I am a member of this site because when they produce a scene with a girl I am very attracted too it definitely delivers. The BEST scenes in my entire collection are all from this website.
Is the site really "going downhill" I can't really say that when just a week ago I got to watch a fantastic scene and it was very well done and catered to exactly what I want to see.
All I can say is that the site has definitely expanded and diversified the content.
I log on and check every day and have been for several years now. The scenes I want to see are not as frequent as they used to be, there is a lot more stuff I don't care to see but LegalPorno is still making and producing scenes I do want to see and I am happy to see it continue.

What are you saying you disagree with?

We're not trying to indicate profitability at all. That information is internal to each studio. Completely irrelevant to a league table of models' popularity.

You could argue the case for measuring a model's popularity by sales revenues.

But the ticket price for a 15x1 scene will likely be higher than a 1x1.
If both scenes sell the same number of units, is the model in the 15x1 scene more popular just because the sales revenues were higher?
I don't think so.

FWIW I'm not sure at the top end of the popularity tables that under or overpricing a scene for a popular big-name model would necessarily make a huge difference in sales volume. Those girls have established fan bases who will likely buy their scenes even if they grumble about the price. But as customers we don't have a reliable benchmark to gauge under or overpricing. It's subjective.

For a new and unknown girl then I think obvious mispricing for her scene can result in lower sales and the studio not booking her again because "she didn't sell". That's a pity. I wrote the same argument when IV released IV429 with new girl Emma and priced it at 5 tkts.
But new unknown girls probably wouldn't be challenging on the top pages of "popular models" yet anyway.

Can someone strongly suggest all LP studios provide full bodied picture gallery ? This help fans visualize the model fully. In era of improvements in all forms of visual quality, why are we still dealing with wondering if models have legs or heads ? :( I know the example below is not from LP but I was admiring beautiful Tori Dakota on [spam] and I thought fuck where is the rest of her (many LP studios are guilty of the same thing) ?

You don't have to attempt to focus the viewers eye it will always focus on what they want to see.
