e-book: A history of |pornstars|series|studios 1995 - 2022

Postby netzerkaiser » Sat Sep 03, 2022 6:06 pm

Anyone care to organise an online committee to try to assemble such a venture?

Surely the time has come? It could take a couple of years but surely time has come, from soclological perspective if nothing else?

I'm not talking of bland lists but something meaningful & colourful, celebrating studios from LP to Private to 21st Sextury, series from Teenswantblack to AlCaporno to Buttplays, models from the most popular, beautful & memorable, to the most obscure, beautful & memorable... sure there would be arguments & debates about which pornstars|series|studios should be included, receive prominent attention etc...

It could even lead to members of committee creating their own completed versions to submit, following a defined template.

Sadly, judging from lack of input into these things shown in past year or so on forum, its unlikely to happen. :(

I'd be on for participating & learning from others, though.

I'm basing this idea on a great book I picked up nearly 40 years ago now on a history of great rock albums by a guy called Tom Hibbert. It was so eclectic, it had all the greats, but more. It wasn't like some Paul Gambaccini | Rolling Stone effort that had to have Sgt Peppers in the list. It was braver than that.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Perfect-Collec ... 0862761050

That what I'm talking about. An actress that did -5 great scenes, to me, stands immeasurably above & beyond an actress that did 300+ unmemorable scenes that failed to capture imagination. Quality over quantity very time.

Anyone got any opinions?

I can't believe no-one answered this.

I'm well up for participating in such a committee.

Every member of committee should have an area of expertise... the only areas I'm weak on are

1 Europorn 1993-1996/7... but I'm sure some of you ggguys can compensate

2 USA porn 1993-2010, but even later, there are weak spots with me, this is because EBI or pornteengirl never really focused on USA until about 2015... even then | now a bit hit & miss...

3 Porn fom individual European countries 1993-present, e.g. France & Benelux, Greece & Balkans, Poland, MittelEuropa & Russia (indigenous non-international studios), Scandinavia...

We'd have a great time with this academic pursuit I'm sure, learn from one another, & really come up with a definitive quality based history of pornstars, stuios etc, with emphasis hopefully on beautiful forgotten models & scenes over the mediocre actress tht maybe did 500 scenes.

I'd love to be part of this.

I just used '93 as a base-line, I guess between when Private XXX started & Silwa | DBM came into their own. But we can't forget great 1970's & 1980's magazine stuff from Color Climax, the affore-mentioned Silwa, Sex o'M and others...

I guess almost no one cares about high quality pictures/photosets these days which is very sad. Nothing beats the old private or color climax picture sets from the mid 90's to 2000

Thanks. You see, I'd be tempted to try do it myself (less the expertise areas I mention above).

But fact is, I'm a Windows XP man still, for my sins, so for for fomatting etc I'd be all ears for others advice | innovations etc.

Thanks again Pjfry75...

to get your hands on 90's private stuff is quite easy, just join privateclassics. All the high quality stuff from the 90's is there.

Personally any interest I'd have would be in an improved version of a web-resource like iafd.com or a 'Wikipedia of porn', not a physical book.

I think you're right. You can't combine search strings, in IAFD, e.g. Debut year & nationality & gender, if one could it'd help

I was also thinking along the lines of things like interviews with the models and their input on their careers. More the sort of content I was thinking you may have had in mind for your book? Photos and video clips would be good too.

I still have porn mags from 25+ years ago!

My first wife found a bunch of them and threw a fair bit out in jealousy.

My second wife found another batch and threw some more out.

However, I still have quite a collection stashed away safely. For the past few years though...I do not buy porn mags anymore. Much prefer watching videos/scenes on TV/laptop/computer.

I wish in the mid & late 1990's (in my mid-late 20's in London) I'd had the confidence to buy them (the XXX mags). I was always too self-conscious of what the pleasant shop person might think of me to even give any more than a quick glance at the top shelf.

Then just before I left England to go to non-porn Ireland I summoned up the courage to go into a Soho sex shop a couple of times & buy a few videos. This was '99 or 2000. Very liberating experience. Why? Because it was just occupied by normal guys - not smelly or perfumed old pervs with cheap raincoats & comb-overs & twitching eyes... I can't remember seeing mags there though.

The idea of buying online through mouth-watering adverts in Sunday Sport etc was frustrated by my fear of again, what landlord etc would think of me when I'd moved on & catalogues etc would keep being sent... that & the frustration that the one time I did buy online all I got was watered down rubbish. I think there was such a stigma on porn then... dirty old (young) man etc. As a poor immigrant in London the idea of having a classy girlfriend (in the way I needed it to be) in the bleak socio-economic world that was my reality, was non-existent, however handsome one may have been.

Ironically, by the time I left Ireland again in mid 2000's we had the internet, & a revolution was born.
