The most powerful movie which left a lasting impression on me is "Event Horizon". I watched it as a young adult, and it was so good and scary...I have only ever seen it the once at the cinema.

It made the highly rated follow-up, "The Good, The Bad and The Ugly" kind of boring, to me.

WOW! Gonna check that out. I've been mad searching for this French 1990's film about a priest trying to help a poor family out in these steel post-WWII 'communities' | ghettoes. The female lead was an incredibly dignified performance. There was nothing seedy about 'priest' role.

Contact from the 90s was a great movie. Only ever seen it the once in the cinema, when it was first released. (Starting to think I may have a space fascination...another previous suggestion was Event Horizon)!

For a movie that is mostly a drama, it felt very powerful to me...especially the understated nature of the ending.

So many that affected me profoundly... Most have to do with the injustices man has placed upon others. American History X (1998), Gandhi (1982), Full Metal Jacket (1987), A Clockwork Orange (1971), Malcom X (1992)

Special shout out to The Matrix (1999), it was such a different kind of movie when it first came out in the cinemas. Growing up as a kid after that movie came out, I don't think they can really appreciate how different it was to everything that had been made before. Great action movie
