Maybe I’m just old-fashioned, but from my perspective, pornographers are simply merchants. The only thing they owe you is the content you’ve paid them for. There is never any guarantee that a pornographer you like will continue to produce the content you want to see from them, nor is there any guarantee that they will even still be working in the future. It’s a product, not a service. People in this industry need to have the freedom to come and go as they please.

It wouldn't seem unreasonable for the truth to generally lie somewhere in the middle to me? In that I'd obviously want producers to make scenes that they think are good but it would seem unwise to give no thought at all to what might sell. The larger and more financially secure a studio is the more they can presumably take the chance on the occasional more unusual scene, which may or may not sell well.
