Tech question: video integrity checker?

Postby joshuahunt » Sat Dec 05, 2020 10:32 pm

Hi everyone, new user for a technical question. I own a lot of LP videos, and sometimes I find one that hasn't for any reason downloaded correctly, freezing before the end. Looking for some app to spot them, so I can download them again, I only found disk integrity checkers or apps to repair videos, good for family videos but this is not the case, there is a part missing so I need to check if and which aren't complete to delete and download them again. Possibly I'm not using the correct key words, sinc eneglish is not my mother tongue.
Anybody knows anything the like? I knew there were some download managers that checked the integrity of a file being downloaded, but is there something similar for already downloaded videos?
Thank you

When I've downloaded a video, I just double check by immediately opening it and going right to the last minute to see if it's playing correctly. If the very end is good, then that normally means the whole thing is fine - I've never had one with an error or gap in the middle that didn't crap out the entire file.

This is what I usually do as well. Takes only a second, and you know immediately if the video plays correctly or if you need to download again.

Sounds like a plan. Also, I'd suggest using a good download manager in preference to just downloading in a browser. It's quicker and the software does some file checking for you.
