I think they mostly get called in scene-by-scene. They can take the booking or not. More refusals for a particular type of work means less or no callbacks from that producer.

If they're with an agency then their agent should be listing and promoting the type of work they do, just like the girls.

Of course, an actor who wants a particular type of work can just go out and contact people and try to get work himself instead of just waiting for the phone to ring.

I don't think that the porn actors that most people like to see have so many privileges and so many options to choose what they want or don't want to do, after all, it's like all jobs and you have to do it like nothing.

Of course they do have the choice!

But they also know what business they are getting in. Can you make a decent pornstar career if you refuse black guys or sodomy? I don't think so.

Plus when you are a newcomer you don't have that much leverage to refuse what the director wants you to do ("if you don't do it somebody will" mentality) ...and we all know that in this business a lot of "producers" are borderline abusive (i didn't say all) and probably use a lot of psychological pressure on girls to make them do what they want.

As far as the men are concerned, of course they can refuse to fuck gays and trannies, but they make more money with that kind of scenes. Plus i'm pretty sure they are more gay porn studs accepting to fuck girls for money than straight men fucking gays for money.

I'm sure that all male models can pick, but that can also mean no work. For like LP if a guy don't want to do scenes with other guys in it, doesn't want to do dap/dvp it becomes very limiting for the amount of scenes as compared to a male model that is up for pretty much everything.
