Thailand isn't as poor as you make it out to be. Its 2017 GDP per person was 6,593.82 USD and Ukraine's GDP per person in 2017 was 2,639.82 USD. You can look it up on the Internet.

Up to a certain point, the amount of money you get paid for your work makes a big difference whether you can achieve happiness or not.

If you work at a minimum wage job all your life, then you would be living from paycheck to paycheck and struggling to pay the bills. Perhaps Ukraine hasn't yet changed its laws for buying and selling land. They still have some rules and laws left over from when they were a part of the USSR. But people can open a business there.
