First GIO took Denny Lou from AGO, but now AGO takes GIOs old BBC crew. That's a terrible hit for Andrew X plans to carry on with GIO legacy and his studio business.

There has been quite some competition in the past between AGO and GIO, but this developement is now a new high point!

First Angelo Godshack left GIO in order to found his own studio.
Than he poached Tiny Tom, Neeo and Michael Fly from GIO.
GIO at the end payed him back by poaching Denny Lou.
But now with GIO stopping production Giorgio Grandi successor Andrew X. gets the worst to come! Looks like AGO having a bitter-sweet revenge!

If you hadn't attached an image, I wouldn't have believed that AGO had signed up some black guys. For me, AGO studio has always been pretty boring without any black guys in any of his scenes. I think revenue is the biggest reason why he changed directions. I kind of feel like his audience might be similar to TeamSkeet, as in a bunch of white guys that don't really care for interracial porn.

However, AGO doesn't release that often, so his white audience can still get the number of scenes that they are accustomed to. And also, some of the audience from GIO can also enjoy some of AGO's interracial content.

Anyhow, I hope it works out. And I would have to agree with maxymax about the porn wars. I want all the top studios to do well, so that actresses can shoot for some extra money. It is also great to have studios that offer a diverse set of content. For instance, if an actress doesn't like double anal, then they can shoot for Studio Y.

I find it interesting that there is a site providing an index for the main LP studios called https://bestlpstudios.com

I am pretty sure it's also owned by Giorgio Grandi since it's linked on his site, has an almost identical user interface and words like genre are spelt in the same idiosyncratic Italian way as on his main site

I don't know how relevant this is but I found it worth mentioning because AGO is one of the studios promoted on that site, so that got me little curious since I had often read there was some animosity between them due to the many reasons mentioned by people in this thread. On some level, it still seems to attest some recognition for AGO as a producer.

i would always rather see positive cooperation between the studios (as far as possible, accepting that they are all chasing the same pool of customers), rather than a negative adversarial situation which could end up with studios locked in bitter rivalries, and performers locked into contracts with studios and unable to move around the studios easily

wasn't there a situation many years ago when Jules Models (or one of the big agencies responsible for a lot of eastern european models) was stopping models (either contractually blocking, or constructively blocking) from working with this or that studio according to petty inter-xxx feuds they were engaged in with certain studios and directors. that hurt both models (who lost potential opportunites for work) and studios that were shut out by them. so ultimately, competition there became a negative and counter-productive endeavour

competition is a double-edged sword. sometimes it can work for or against progress according to the circumstances.
whereas cooperation may not respond to change as fast or as radically as reaction to competition, but in practice often produces for a far more reliable and productive system for all invloved

In the US it's pretty common for models to have exclusive contracts with studios, not too sure about Europe though.

Yes actually I would prefer cooperation as well. When the Colombians started coming to Prague in 2021, most girls would shoot 5 scenes fo GIO, 3 for Gonzo for example and the girl would end up with a big payday and they could release their scenes gradually. Sometimes they would even be back in Prague with a few left in the can (no pun intended) so you didn't have any droughts without content from your favorite girl. This has not been the case in the last year or so

It's still rather a friendly competition as that GIO page promoting AGO also shows. It has its nasty edges at times though, like one studio contracting the other studios studs like mentioned in OP. But generally porn biz is a very permissive biz where all work together somehow - maybe except PW, who put himself out of most of porn community with hier lier APE attitude. Same was true in the end for Joachim Kessef, but not at the start and middle of his director career.
Same btw is between Hardbrasil and Yummy & Mambo in Brasil - and also was between LTP and NTP in Medellin. They compete, but also cooperate. There are personal attacks by directors, but than again they still find a common ground most times.

Of course it is the best situation when the studios are working together, but also competing with each other. They cut down on the costs by working together, but still keep each other sharp.
