The notion that we are a "pure race" is ill conceived and purely marketing from people wishing to manipulate and control right wing extremists. A lot of Europe are ethnically related to Russians, who are certainly not one ethnic group either. All of this combined means we are not ethnically homogenous at all. The reason countries like Japan are so ethnically homogenous is in part related to the fact they are an island and have been more isolated from other people.

Part of the problem for me is that I am a loner, and one time I was trying some stunts on a mountain bike in a parking lot, away from the parked vehicles. A landscaper with a pickup and long trailer parked near me and started up a conversation with me. This was in the big city and that does not typically happen, although I too like to start a conversation to make the city less impersonal.
