Should we make the forum members-only?

Postby xxx » Sat Nov 03, 2018 4:06 pm

By members only I mean we would also allow old members and people who spent on LP in the past even if they didn't have a membership.

Who do you think would suddenly disappear?

Can be a hard decision but definitely some flamers and trolls gonna disappear immediately.

Its a double edge decision, right now there are some free users that they are respectful users but there are a lot of them than they aren't respectful.

I voted "Yes" to clean the forum of this kind of users. If they want to talk shit, they need to support LP al least

I voted yes. ...but I have concerns. I changed my forum name months ago so it doesn't match than my Pornbox ID. I also don't maintain continuous membership. I should be okay based on what XXX said but worry about it being implemented wrong.

For a semi-public forum it has surprisingly few trolls. Lots of moaners though. I don't think it would have too much effect on the tone of the discussion.

Well porn actors/actresses are probably not members, so they will not be able to reach out to the fans, so not a good idea.

^I'm sure LP forum admin can workout a special account for them just like they do for XXX, Giorgio and etc. This is better because the model would be officially verified so no catfish schemes which is so prevalent on social media ;)

I support the XXX idea to "clean" the forum but i suggest this idea like an example or possible way:

If the idea is to differentiate the users with membership or did spend some money in LP that can be obtained using different colours with the users.

eg. Red: admins, directors, actor/actresses.
green: Members with membership active
Orange: members with not active membership in this moment but they did support LP in some moment.

the standart colour in this moment for free users.

With this method everyone can know what kind of user is everone.

Yes...That's the way it should be. It will clean things up for sure and increase the chances of members/patrons being heard over some noisey non-members who don't spend anything in support of LP yet may be the loudest here, trolls included.

I think that there could be a special members only forum section, but to close off this regular forum would be exclusive behavior and I don't think good as a marketing/business standpoint.

Coming to check out trailers and the forum has become a daily thing for me.
Most of the topics I don't bother with or I read a little of a subject that is interesting to me, until it get petty and heated.
I've only commented a few times over the years, because though I've bought some tokens, I've never been a 'member' and some things should be left to those that are financially supportive.
But to completely shut out the public from accessing the forum the way it currently is, would be bad business and on the side of (dare I say) fascist elitism.

So ya, If the members want their own exclusive forum section, I'm for that, but keep things how they currently are open to the 'public'.

I somehow misread xxx's comment "....and people who spent on LP in the past even if they didn't have a membership."

So I guess I would be 'safe'

So have both: a simpler, basic public section and a forum for past/present financial supports.

Definitely yes!

But maybe a forum trial access for 1-2mt without being a member would channel in new customers.
After 1-2 months with still no membership bought, forum access would expire.
Trolls, misbehavior etc would knick out non-members immediately.

I vote "yes" BUT there needs to be a section where non-members can ask questions, as you may have people thinking of joining who want to clear something up.
Outside of that, members only.

You could also start banning posters who post the same bs over and over again.

Any of the following get a 7-day ban.
- Not enough piss.
- Too much piss.
- Why keep the heels on?
- Why take the heels off?
- Complain about tip-fucking.
- Complaining about 0% pussy. (Especially in GIO scenes)
- What a disappointment. Skipping this one because of.... [reasons]

It would make the forum much better.

Okay. That makes sense. Limited features for non-members where they can ask questions. Posting on the forum should still be limited to members.

I never really thought about this before. I always figured if you hang out here then you are/were a member. I get people not being able to afford memberships though - things are tough all over. Mind you, even when I had much less money, I'd put some aside to buy a ticket pack every few months. I'm surprised there's not more SPAM and trolls to be honest. Advocacy and lobbying I don't mind (I have my own particular interests as you know)...whinging and whining can eff off though.

Yes
Forum should be for active members only like most sites do. If a non-member needs to ask a question it should be in one thread only titled support or questions. I don't believe they should be able to read the threads either if not members but they definitely shouldn't be able to interact with it.

I'm with SimplyStunning here. Posting should be limited to members, non-members should have the ability to read only.

I like to read stuff on other sites myself just to be informed. I think it's highly annoying to create an account for that (even if it's for free).

if people can get their voices heard, that means they feel they are cared for which will lead them to become members, otherwise its classic boring like any other website out there, just my thought i guess, my cousin became a member just cuz he liked the whole idea of being able to post on here, like i said, this is one example, guess all up to the creators of lp...

I used to subscribe to a successful US based porn website that did limit its forum to subscribers. If the idea is that this will largely eliminate trolls and whingers then it came nowhere near working on this other website. I'd be interested to know why people think it might work on this website.

The forum used to be great before LP became so popular, it has always had the odd weirdo asking for tranny porn or scat though. Now you have to wade through a pot of shite, to find decent conversations.
As the community is bigger now, the forum needs better and more active moderation. Things like, merging similar threads, getting rid of the trolls/spam, and generally engaging with the community on behalf of LP.

A great idea to lock people out who aren't buying content, and thus may not deserve the right to have a say... Just please don't put long time members who rarely post, that would make me sad!

If it goes to members only, posting activity should not be a consideration. All members should have the same access regardless of whether they post or not. May be non-members are able to see only and be able to interact with LP staff via another channel.

I stop by to read some of the weird excuses of why the forum shouldn't lock out non paying members and this one is my favorite today.

So we are to believe your cousin only joined this site because LegalPorno gives non paying customers a voice on this forum. So the fact that LegalPorno has some of the most beautiful European and American women doing hardcore multiple penetration scenes daily (2 original releases daily) had nothing to do with it? There is no other site in the world that does this (believe me I've searched) but the deciding factor for your cousin was non paying customers can post in the forum.

Sorry, not trying to make fun of the post but mukurat you have got to admit it is hard to believe.

You guys are going way overboard with restrictions...essentially creating a caste system for LP.

I imagine the forum exists mainly to drive memberships. As outlined by XXX (forum privileges come with membership now or in past) I think would work to entice guys to buy a membership without making it too restrictive.

The forum is a great place for exchange of ideas and tastes. It also increases interest in LP, loyalty to the site & favourite girls, traffic to the site, interest in new girls & scenes and let's guys feel like they have some influence in the type of content produced. It also benefits producers as they get insight into what our porn addled brains want to see via topics discussed. Make it too restrictive and I think we'll lose a lot of what makes LP so unique and special.

So what you're saying is you love the constant 40+ nonsense posts a day like these:

MegaPornFan: I want to be a BIG PORNSTAR to FUCk those SLUTS in PORN MOVIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

...by someone who is most likely not a member? I sure as hell don't!

Notice how the forum traffic has tampered way down. Well it is because there is no longer 3 pages a day, of post spamming by idiots who were NEVER members, and didn't have anything to contribute or worthwhile to say. Now, maybe yes there were some good non member posters (a minority) but the majority were not. As far as those few good ones, maybe they could contact the forum admins, and say hey I wasn't one of those idiots, and an Admin can give them permissions back (if they turned out to be one of those troll idiots, well then switch gets flipped off on them). As someone who has run other forum/messageboards its not that hard a thing to do.

I will say though in the "Videos" sub forum, blocking members from being able to post, who have not yet purchased the scene probably a little too strict.

Talk between paying members, whether they purchased the scene yet or not (but have most likely watched the trailer), and most likely will purchase just maybe at a later date, is still helpful in the sense of possibly not just buying that scene, but also buying other scenes with that porn star(s). Because of something posted/expressed by another member about the girl (or guy) in the particular scene, it has made me (as I am sure others) a bunch of times search out & purchase others scenes in the back catalog from that girl/guy, that I may not have known about. Which is more $$$ for LP.

So XXX, or who ever else is in charge just something to think about, on that lock out of members on that Sub Forum. Purchased yet or not, members should still have the ability to converse.
