If you're streaming video, rather than downloading it, you necessarily limit your options. For those of us with marginal broadband, regular reliance on streaming is simply not an option: We can't. And one thing I've for sure noticed about LP since joining it a month ago, some content here is on servers that respond quickly, and some of it (especially older stuff) seems to be on servers powered by the proverbial anorexic hamster wheel (as compared to other online pay porn sites). I'm a buffet consumer, but I want instant access to my whole buffet: I like to jump around, sampling this, then that, switching files, skipping back and forth within files, etc.
Memory is incredibly cheap now; as solid-state hard drives become more competitive, price will continue to drop, and capacity and performance will continue to improve. You can get a 3TB external hard drive for less than $100. Once you've downloaded something you can examine it frame-by-frame if you want. Once it's downloaded you eliminate the risk that it will become unavailable later; for collectors, downloading is the ONLY sane way to go.
If I were instead only interested in watching something once, without collecting and re-watching at my leisure, I'd be using Pornhub or Tube8 or something like that, rather than paying for my porn.
As the industry transitions to 4k, there are going to be major limitations involved on streaming. Huge chunks of the porn-consuming world -- including much of the US -- simply don't have the internet infrastructure or commercial options for consumers that will permit them to stream in 4k, nor is that likely to change in the next five years.
To each his own. If Pornbox is going to offer a streaming player with slo-mo, that's peachy, and good news for you, I suppose. It won't affect me, though.
