anyone here up for the idea of an AVLP end of year Oscars?

i was just writing somewhere else on the forum about Lenis Diamond being my Best Newcomer of the Year, and it made me think that perhaps members here would be interested in some form of end of year awards thread in which we could propose our favourite this-and-that's for the year 2024?

so that's the first question, does anyone want to do it, or is it a stupid idea and no one is very much interested?
and if you are saying you would be up for such a thing, do you have any suggestions for awards categories?

i was thinking along the lines of Best Model, Best Scene, Best Studio (basically the xxx Oscars as far as that will crossover), and then a Best New --- categories where that applies (models, studios, etc) to give new entrants to the industry some recognition, respect and exposure for what they are trying to do (even if it's still early days for them)

i'm thinking maybe 10 or 12 possible categories maximum, but people only need reply with their personal awards for those categories that appeal most to them?

as to ideas for a format, polls are a pita to do (i find so anyway, trying to second guess what everyone might want to vote on and then remembering to babysit it, keep up with comments, and bump as and when necessary, maybe i'm just lazy), and they are also vulnerable to sockpuppets and multiple account holders putting a thumb on the scales to get the results they want to see
so (personally speaking, but speak up if you disagree and have other ideas) i would like to see such an awards thread as open and freeform as possible

but one thing i would like to see as a strong suggestion for all participants, is for commenters to illustrate their choices with either screenshots or gifs (not crazy big, maybe 5mb or 10mb max).

so for your model of the year just post a screenshot you think sums up why you like her so much
and for your scene of the year, screenshots or a gif to illustrate a moment from it to illustrate why it is so good

i'm suggesting this because so many times people mention a favourite model or scene in the many 'favourite' threads that appear in the 'general discussion' thread, and if there are no images it means members have to dig around the forum trying to find images of the model or scene in question

for one or two models or scenes, it's not a big deal. but if this proposed awards thread just became a long list without images of models and scenes that many may never heard of, it becomes a mission for people to keep up with that cross referencing to find out what other members are talking about

well this is a sketch for an idea and i think this post explains it as far as i have thought about it, so if you have anything to say on the subject, speak up with your thoughts and suggestions

an update on this thread:

my intention is for it to run this thread from the week before christmas (december 15th-ish) until new year, as that is when (most) people will be at home and when the forum is likely to be most active. and this also keeps the door open to include christmas/new year scenes released by studios that members may want to include in their oscar choices

so watch this space

i also recommend this poll by another user which offers members the option for members to choose a favourite performer of the year from a shortlist.

this 'oscars' thread (when i started) will in effect be a complementary thread to this poll

but preferring a non-poll freeform format (from which members can include or leave out categories they have no opinions on), and will expand the options to include best/favourite scene, best/favourite studio. images to illustrate personal choices are also encouraged so as to expose members to models/scenes they may have missed over the course of the year (and may want to catch up with)
