The nature of the industry has simply changed massively since the introduction of OF and other similar platforms, giving performers 100% control of their content and work environments, plus a shit ton more money for safer, more enjoyable work. It's very, very difficult for any studio to not only get the girls, but also pay them what they're asking for in the new market. There are obviously exceptions to this but when you apply this factor to the whole industry then it's not a surprises to see lots of "mainstream" studios struggling.

It is O F, and the rising costs of making porn...plus many girls not willing to do those things for the current going rates which has led to this situation.
It is the same in porn on a global scale. Porn worldwide has taken a big hit in recent years, even top American porn studios are struggling.
These were good posts and I agree pretty much, although it being safer/enjoyable is debatable as there have been issues seen already with the "Content Trading" that has resulted in folks getting cancelled or causing drama with accusations (STD tests, etc.). I think ultimately, these platforms allow them to get the majority of the money (including (re)selling the content directly for its lifetime) and working on their own terms. It will be extremely hard for a studio to compete with that platform. This, for better or worse, is causing the porn industry to evolve yet again. This is happening in the USA [and other countries] as well.
While the USA does have a few sites (including platforms like MV, OF, Cam sites, etc.) that do piss, it's still quite a niche thing. Most of your popular models, including the men, have gone exclusively to OF or one of its iterations. At this point, the usual studios are just used for advertising/promotions. Fans will eventually follow them to OF. From there, a parasocial relationship is likely to form between the model and fan.
A fan being able to directly interact with the model they like? This is something that a studio is likely never able to compete with. You may be able to chat with a model if she is starting out or relatively unknown. However, what most folks don't seem to realize is they eventually have a group of people that eventually help manage chats/DMs once they get to a point they can't realistically do it because there are so many people hitting them up. You even have some using AI chat bots. It gets even more fucked up since OF and the related platforms don't have a clean or manageable way to buy/sell content. You can't even tell if you are buying something in good faith (old/previously bought content or is the content truly as described?) as most of them don't have trailers or previews. I did always wonder why folks don't just use MV over OF (Doesn't necessarily allow piss content either), at least their stuff is more organized and open. I'm assuming OF gives more of the cut to the content makers.
The quality and diversity (sexual acts, kinks, and fetishes) of the content on those types of platforms are typically pale in comparison to a legit studio. However, you do have some that are catching up in terms of production value with that of a studio. You even see some studios collaborate for a joint effort with model(s) on those platforms.
I think overall, the usual porn we love will still be there - it just won't be dominating the output we have gotten used to. It's just going to have to compete with more platforms which means the market share will continue to be a battleground. It likely means studios that can fund these scenes or can take hits on diverse risks will stick around, but it'll be harder for the smaller scale studios to have a healthy cash flow. Unfortunately, I think models that are active for more than a few scenes doing studio work will be problematic and will be fewer in comparison to previous years. Let's not forget Porn, OF, etc. is just one of the many forms of sex work. I just have a feeling things will eventually become more private, exclusive, and/or locked behind platforms.
This forum unfortunately attracts a few types of users and is nowhere indicative of what is selling or not. Plus, you typically see users just annoyed/mad their fetish/kink isn't being met - then scapegoating (including conspiracies) on other shit.
