There is also the correct point that you make, which is...if you had babies with them, they would be pregnant for 9 months, you would be very busy for the first few years looking after the baby/toddler...so if you were super rich, you would take these sexy women as romantic/sexual partners...but you would not actually be having any children together.

although i think having babies as a peasant sucks, because they consume too much money & energy

But from selfish POV I'd avoid to impregante them to preserve them in better looks and dont spoil full access to them. If it was a harem as you wrote OP I could ofc have some pregnant and some not and still get enough sex. So that would be fine. In that case I'd choose some similar looking ones in case one gets pregnant I have a similar alternative available.

Now, just not to be misunderstood: Real relationship isnt in harem but defined by both of us and ideally a pretty open one for both in terms of sex, but not emotions. I'd prefer such an arrangement, but thats not your OP question.
