No more scenes numerotation ?

I've noticed some studio stopped putting a catalog reference in their scenes names. Like Yummy, NRX or VK... Why ?
I like to keep my hard drive organized.

I've been thinking about this a lot lately, and it makes me wonder if they think this makes it harder for file sharers. But I don't know. I hate it. the titles all blend together after a while. Whereas the numbers always go upward making finding scenes on my harddrive so much easier.

I think you answered your own question.
We can always invent our own numbering if we keep records offline.
Unfortunately if members want to search in their personal Pornbox "Library", they are limited to the official scene titles.
DAP-A has complained about this. Although users can edit titles in "Library", and the user-edited title is stored in the database and linked to the user, it isn't searchable.

This is what I’ve been doing since this has started happening. Not ideal for sure, and it takes some extra time. But for someone like me who downloads the scenes, it’s the only way to keep track.

Maybe just use the date as part of your record keeping, in place of the old scene number? It's pretty rare for any of the studios to release multiple scenes per day.

Yeah I don't like this either. I keep a list of the scenes I'm interested in buying before I buy them and this is harder without a code as that was previously how I listed them. Now I might just have to put down "Polly Petrova YE" or whatever. Sometimes there is a decent sized gap between me listing a scene and buying it (especially as I don't find many scenes that fit my zero manhandle requirement so I generally have to let them slowly build up) so this might mean that by the time I come to buy the scene there are already many more YE scenes with Polly Petrova and I've essentially forgotten which one I liked.
I don't understand the piracy thing. I think all scenes need their own identifying code. Not having them also makes it harder to discuss scenes in this forum, especially when they become more than a few weeks old.

I know there is the "wish list" so I could use that but I also list the ticket price to make it easy to count the overall tickets needed so my list is preferable.
I'm nothing if not well-organised ha ha ha.

I don't like it either because having the code helps me find out if there is a wet/piss scene alternative, and without the code it's hard to know that, so you skip buying the scene because you don't want to buy the dry version by mistake.

If Pornbox have decided not to give us a scene number, then we can sit crying about it, or make our own.
I agree with Vulture that our scene reference number should enable us to go back and quickly locate the scene on Pornbox.
And I agree with davebowman that including the date in our scene reference is the way to do this.
Using the date also enables us to retrofit scenes into our catalogue or collection or wishlist in the right place.
Once we have located the scene on Pornbox, the site tells us if there is an alternative version.
This is exactly the same whether Pornbox gave us an official scene number or not.

It doesn't. The only way to know if there is an alternate version is by typing the scene number on the search bar and the search bar offering both scenes to click, the wet and the dry.
Otherwise the system can easily not show you if there is an alternate because the titles are most likely a it different
The only other way to find out if there is an alternate version is if the scene is recent, in which case you can go through the the recent piss scenes.
But if the scene is many days older you are helpless because no one has the time to go through all the catalog just to see if there is a piss version.

If Pornbox do not assign an official scene number, but you do know both the studio and the release date, you can easily find any scene.
Any alternate versions will appear next to each other on the same release date, and are clearly marked with the "alternate" badge.

If you manage to miss that, there is a second chance to see that there is an alternate version, when you view the webpage for the scene.

That alternative badge would make life so much easier for costumers, but I don't get to see that. Great idea though, I wish they would do that.

For example I know this scene has an alternate version because it says dry on the title, but sometimes they don't write that. A badge would definitely help.

Can you enable the "Alternate" badge in your customer account drop-down thingy?

Yeah, it's on, I tried turning it off to see if maybe that did something, and then back on, I even tried the dark theme too, but nothing. I think that feature is only available if you live in Czech Republic.

Possibly it's because you have a USA-domiciled membership?
What does the screen look like if you don't log in?
This screenshot shows my screen without logging in, including alternative badges.
If that gets you the badges, you could try keeping a different browser e.g. Firefox open to search without logging in, to save messing about in your main browser?
If that doesn't work for you, you can still see (in any browser, logged in or not) the releases for that studio for each date all together and side-by-side. So you can see any available alternate versions.

Thank you for posting your screenshots.
It seems that searching for scenes by studio and date will not find alternative versions because they are not displayed in your location.
Maybe best to draw a veil over your preferred search methods.

Yeah, that's the reason why numeration is important for people in U.S... It's easy to skip buying the scene if we are not sure there is a wet version somewhere else.

By the way, I just noticed that if you look at those screenshots, the top models for Giorgio's Lab change when you are signed in and when you are signed out, which is strange, and I had no idea that was the case until know, it makes me wonder what are those ranks based on because I always imagined it was sales, but it could be speed of sales, and other things.

Agreed that all the suggestions for keeping the scene numbers and indicating scenes with alternates would be welcomed additions.
But in the mean time (or if they never change it), if you download scenes, you can set your file explorer to sort by date created. Assuming you download scenes as they come out, you can at least sort them in a somewhat chronological order.
And for the alternates, it can be really tedious if the scenes are older for an active model, but you can search their forum thread for the date the scene was released to check if the alternate was posted as well. Like I said, it's tedious, and it's not a guarantee, but it's helped.

What I will say, I have noticed that as well. It used to be added automatically when the scene was uploaded. They are doigng a lot of changes lately and I have realized this option was no more working. At the moment I am manually adding that code on the title, after a complain from dap-addict, but I don't think it is the right way to go, especially in case this code isn't stored on the DB.

Thanks for doing that Oscar! It is helpful for those who have a ton of LP scenes. Hope you can influence some kind of workable solution. Your scences are amazing. Keep up the good work!!
