I do observe that girls look different in soft porn and vanilla sex scenes compared to the norm in hardcore (and especially anal scenes). It`s like this unwritten law that girls need to have heavy makeup and tacky clothes that are closer to the typical "hooker style" than looking like a model or a "girl next door".

I know a large part of the difference between soft- and hardcore is that the photo-centric sites perform massive amounts of photo editing in order to get their models to look the way they want, but it's also obvious that the makeup artists and stylists that work with softcore actually know what they are doing, and have producers that actually care.

I think the problem is that hardcore always revolves around the action rather than the presentation, so producers get complacent and don't bother to improve on, or even give thought to, the latter. Hiring professionals to do these things would cost money, which they would rather spend on more male performers, so they let someone who will work for peanuts do it and then pick outfits at random from the box of clothes looted from the corpses of overdosed prostitutes, to save costs. (Slight exaggeration of course ).

Yeah, VK and NRX usually have much better styling than the tired old "hooker"-look. Gonzo definitely have some nice styling in their backlog and GG perhaps one scene in a hundred, but mostly its very much cookie cutter with little to no creativity involved. Even on those few occasions when styling is closer to "girl next door" than "hooker", I find the same old studio setting breaks whatever illusion styling might achieve. Not shooting everything in the same studio like location is a big part of the appeal of VK, NRX and now recently Vira Gold Films, especially when combined with "girl next door"-styling.

Scenes shot in natural light and white sheets work beautifully with "natural" looking girls. The use of obvious studio locations has definitely passed its prime for me. I hardly buy anything in that format anymore.
