I'm RC & while I think too much can be put on church or religion in general putting down sexual feeling as negative, I really think & feel that mankind has underestimated the power of sexual feeling, as though its something the 'better people' have always found a way to defeat, & only the 'low-lives', the 'lesser people' succumb to it. It probably works the same way as any other strong emotion, such as anger for example. When people get angry, then they start to think short-term only, and they no longer see the long-term consequences of what they are doing. That's why in court, it makes a difference if you kill someone in anger or if you plan it and then do it. Doing it in anger is a less serious crime and it's punished less, than a planned act.

Sexual arousal probably shortens your time horizon, and for a while you stop thinking about the long-term consequences of your decisions. That's why your decisions in this situation skew towards short-term gain at the expense of long-term pain.

But if you are aware of how your awareness and thinking is affected by strong emotions, then you can choose to wait until you calm down and only then make your decisions. Or you can consciously and deliberately think about the long-term consequences of your decisions, even when this doesn't come naturally to you.

It's possible to overcome the limitations of your awareness by being aware of what these limitations are and consciously overcoming them. It's basically being aware of your awareness and consciously expanding your awareness, even when it naturally narrows down to a small window in time.

Being in love is the strongest emotion I think there is, with that comes extreme sexual desire for the other person. It's something completely different to as to just being horny.
