I'm tired if repeating my top films, but I can mention three I like.

Love: The Adjustment Bureau
Sci-Fi: In Time
Action: All the John Wick movies

Those were not my favorite, but I like them a lot.

One that has all three? The Matrix Trilogy, and yes loved the entire trilogy. Those are definitely some of my all time favorite, but mostly because of the topics covered in the dialogue, more than the action itself, much more.

Love: Gattaca great movie with ethan hawk and Uma Thurman, also sort of sci fi.
Sci fi: Interstellar
Action: The Raid

Personally prefer thrillers, epics and spaghetti westerns.

Interstellar is good, according to that movie humans in future are 'Gods'.
According to my belief, it's either humans or machines(AI). I like that movie...

Gattaca is a great movie. Not sure I’d call it a love story, but it’s definitely got a romantic subplot. It’s more a movie about self-actualization.

I’ll give you two lesser-known films from each category. These aren’t my all-time favorites necessarily (I don’t do rankings), but they’re all great films.

Love: French Kiss is one of the few romantic comedies I’ve ever liked. San Junipero is actually an episode of Black Mirror, which is kind of like a modern version of The Twilight Zone (meaning each episode is a self-contained story), but it’s one of the most touching love stories I’ve seen in a long time, not a comedy at all, with an interesting sci-fi twist.

Sci-Fi: Ex Machina is a great psychological thriller and an intense human drama about the interaction between A.I. and humanity. Moon is another psychological thriller about a man stationed alone on a helium mine on the surface of the moon. I don’t want to give too much away, but it’s one of the best sci-fi films I’ve ever seen.

Action: The Long Kiss Goodnight was a very popular action-comedy from the ‘90s starring Samuel L. Jackson, but it has faded from relevancy over the years, and now most people don’t even know it exists. That’s a shame, because it’s a fun escapist movie about a schoolteacher who discovers that she is actually a secret agent, but can’t remember any of it. If you’re looking for something more modern, Mad Max: Fury Road is the ultimate action movie, which manages to also tell an engaging story with very minimal dialogue. It’s almost entirely composed of action sequences from start to finish.

@bustylady: You only listed two films in your OP. What’s the third?

I agree, Im not too fond of love movies so I tried to sneak in a title that was more interesting to me than just love.

We must have very similar tastes because I was going to say Ex Machina or Moon for Sci fi, Have you watched Annihilation (with Natalie Portman) ?

Mad max fury road was another movie I thought of putting down, I still remember watching it in the cinema, Apocalypto is a fantastic action movie, if youre ok with subtitles (And no guns) Id give it a shot.

I'll check out the long kiss goodnight, thanks for the recommendation.

Yes, I have. Alex Garland is one of the most promising directors in the genre right now.

I’m a big fan of sci-fi and a movie buff, so I’ve got a lot of recommendations within that genre. Here are a few more, some well-known and some not-so-much, chosen semi-randomly.

If you’re looking for big action and thriller stuff, there’s:

- Total Recall
- Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan
- Star Trek: First Contact
- Star Trek: Insurrection
- The Fifth Element
- Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets
- Edge of Tomorrow
- Oblivion
- The Matrix trilogy.
- Alien and its sequel, Aliens (You can skip the rest. Alien Resurrection isn't bad as a pulpy sort of B-movie thing, but it doesn’t measure up.)
- The Terminator and its sequel, Terminator 2: Judgment Day (Again, you can skip the rest.)
- Serenity, the movie follow-up to Firefly which was a great sci-fi show from the early 2000’s that got cancelled almost immediately, but became popular enough on DVD for the studio to re-visit as a theatrical film.

If you’re looking for quieter, more cerebral stuff, there’s:

- 2001: A Space Odyssey (Of course.)
- Blade Runner and its sequel, Blade Runner 2049
- Dark City
- Arrival
- Coherence
- Infinity Chamber
- 12 Monkeys
- Looper (Kind of straddles the line between action-thriller and cerebral. The time travel stuff can get a little complicated.)
- Dune (Pretty fucking weird and trippy because it’s a David Lynch movie, but quite imaginative.)

And don’t bother with Prometheus. I fucking hated that movie. It’s beautifully shot and raises some interesting questions, but sadly it never gets around to answering a single one of them. Shit just happens for no fucking reason and you’re never sure what anybody’s motivations are supposed to be. People love that movie and I have no idea why; it’s trash.

A few of my favourites in different genres:

The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly
The Matrix
Blazing Saddles
Goodfellas
Office Space
Once Upon A Time In Hollywood
On Her Majesty's Secret Service

These are all films I watch at least once per year.

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood

That was an incredible film (and not just because of the copious Tarantino trademark feet shots).

When I saw the movie in the theater, the first time they showed Margot Robbie’s feet, a woman in front of me shouted, “There’s the feet!” :D :D :D

Never change, Quentin. Never change.

Ive watched almost all of these and I do prefer the quieter more cerebral movies, have you watched predestination with Ethan Hawke? it reminded me of Looper.

Im with you 100% on Prometheus, what a sack of shit, so many plot holes, inconsistencies and moronic behaviour from the crew, terrible movie.

Some of my favorite movies in no order (Im sure youve seen most, if not all of these)

-Heat
-The Road
-Whiplash
-Memories of Murder (S. Korean)
-Apocalypto (Love this movie)
-HeadHunters
-Nightcrawler
-The Departed
-Once upon a time in America
-Chinatown
-Thief (1981)
-Papillon (1973)

These are old gems, youve likely seen them all, but for everyone else in this thread try them out!

I like Prometheus. It has great, native, 3D and grand ambitions which, IMHO, I felt it met. I had a feeling of awe when I left the theater. Doesn't hurt that Noomi Rapace is 100% hot body athletic fuck-all-night fit either in scenes where it matters ;) :D . Very disappointed in the sequel, Alien: Covenant.

Also on Prometheus....I understand the film is divisive. I've never met anyone that didn't have a strong love/hate opinion of the film.

I will say that as much as I hated Prometheus, Covenant was even worse. They tried to go back to the “tried-and-true” formula from the original Alien movies without understanding why that formula works, then didn’t even bother to follow up on any of the interesting elements from Prometheus. A total waste of time and money.

I dont really watch love/romance movies, i watch porn. ;)

Best action? Mad Max: Fury Road. Adrenaline pumping action from start to finish. It doesn't get better than this.

Here is a mixed bag with some of my all time favourite movies.

Princess Mononoke
Memento
Playtime (Jacques Tati)
The Boondock Saints
Life of Brian

some of his theories are kinda wild

but i think feet are phallic

& mom son is so hot

women with penises would be far hotter also
by very far

if you see the silhuette of a penis is like the silhuette of a feet

girls feet is like the penis they dont have

also you idealize women so much but long hair, makeup & skinniness arent real femenine things
(u can be very strong & fast while skynny throught muscle hardening (the xenomorph in a specific alien movie symbolizes that i think)
u remove womens long hair, no makeup & make them bigger & bulkier and most of their beauty dissapears
therefore their beauty is mostly a construct & fake
