I'm being provocative (with no offense intended) but there may be an obvious reason for why there is less spitting around now then there may have been in recent times.

Yes, on one hand, younger people (most performers here) are far less to get it badly than older people.
But on the other, once they have it they are far more likely to transmit it to the wider community (as they are more socially mobile within and across society) which impacts that community as a whole (especially older members of).
Czech had a terrible time with it and is only just coming out. Brazil even worse. And India is still really suffering badly.

So while I love porn as much as the next person here, these are difficult times which oblige people to try to be socially responsible, until there is some level of immunity from vaccine/herd.
Spanish Flu did its thing for a year or two, and then immunity in society got it under control and life returned to normal.
Same thing will happen here.
Viruses are like angry Greek Gods. A little recognition/acceptance that they do exist, and hubris to show you acknowledge and respect them and their powers, and they are generally satisfied with that, and leave a good society alone.

Personally I don't get spitting as a fetish. It sometimes works women into men's mouths as a kind of tease, but usually it comes from the men to the women in a pretty degrading-abusive way, which is a turn off for me.
But if other people like it, and the models are happy to shoot it, then good luck. A fetish is a fetish, so each to their own.

If Covid is the reason there is less spitting on the site (it's a reasonable guess) then the issue (in answer to your 6ft argument) may be a question of viral load.

Eg. A young person with a healthy immune system (and no asthma or underlying issues) should (on best statistical medical evidence) have a good chance of dealing with the virus load that will be transmitted across air between two people in close proximity.
Whereas spitting mouth-to-mouth will transmit (by many orders of magnitudes) a far heavier dose of the virus for the non-infected person's system to deal with.
That increases the risk of a performer getting it badly, which most people who care about the performers welfare (performers and their fans, and responsible producers) would like to avoid. Hence the masks in Giorgio's Studio:

And as to whether a person gets it badly or not badly, they are still infectious within their community for the period it takes to recover from it, which can vary from weeks to months. Which impacts on that community, particularly those most vulnerable (elderly, disabled, those with underlying health issues).
