4K file size

I really like the resolution of the videos.
Unfortunately the file size of the 4K scenes is very large.
I am ok with it because I don't want them to compromise on the quality.
But do you think there will be a new technology in the future to have smaller 4K video file sizes with the same quality?

You just need better Internet, back in the 2000s, people had the same problems with files that were only on MB not even GB.

I prefer that LP never compromises quality, and that they never downscale or upscale anything. Everything looks better native.

I download and play on a 4K tv via usb thumb drive or using a media server from my PC via Plex

Finding a way to play in Native 4K is worth it to me. To me, it spoils for anything in 1080 or a small screen like a tablet or phone once you seen a 4K on a huge 65 inch immersive screen IMO

Using 265 hevc codec can put a 2160p/60 fps videos with a smaller file size but still they are large files in general. Super smooth motion and crystal clear, it varies of course but an hour long video is still going to be 10-15 gb. I download, watch what I want and then delete knowing I always have is saved in my Pornbox if I want to revisit. How bout everybody else? How do you watch LP videos (type of display, resolution, size) and where do you maintain your collection?

4K videos on PB are currently encoded with h264, if h265 was used the filesize could be more than halfed, however it comes at a higher cpu/gpu usage.
I personally convert the downloaded content to h265 to save space, but each scene takes still hours, even though I let it run on a pretty beefy server.
Studios could release it as h265, but customers that play it back on mobile devices (laptop, smartphone, tablet, etc) would see a significant higher battery drain.

presently h266 has been released(beta testing) it's good imo
i think studio's can try it out when it becomes official

I just want to second this. Distributing the 4k scenes in H265 would be an incredible improvement.

HEVC H265 videos I have seen (very few) have been incredible quality! Most 45-60 minutes are 10-15 gb which is large but on AnalVids.com I can download in less 10 minutes lately which is nice.

Have to commend this site, Gio and Gonzo were 100% 4K availability for scenes dating back to 2017 which is one of the earliest to full convert. Hope they are first on the new format to get the best quality (60 fps HEVC 265 is top notch currently)

2) do you have ANY CLUE how close you actually have to sit to a screen of those resolutions to have any percievable increase in picture quality.... If you don't then WTF is the point. Spend shit ton of money only to still "see" them in 1080p full hd, MAYBE 1/2 way closer to 4K, but that's the VERY MOST.
It's not simply the "screen" you look at. We have these things called eyes, they're not digital camera's/processors. They have flaws & limits, and EVERY SINGLE PERSON IS DIFFERENT THAN THE NEXT.

My thoughts too. I have zero interest in 8k content, and actually 4k content being in HDR would interest me more. Most of the time, improving the original filming quality (e.g. lighting) would make the biggest difference though. All '4k' content is not equal...
