Leading from LordLeachim's question, can anyone comment to how many takes per average 'big scene'? I always assumed one... & since I seldom watch scene all way through I'm ignorant, & beyond trailers, have no idea how 'wet' is separated from 'dry'? Are scenes broken up by 2 or 3 coffee breaks etc? I hope I'm not being ridiculous here. I have a second question, but it may wait for now, depending on answer, thanks.

It depends on a lot of factors, like the number of performers, the experience level of the talent, the intensity of the action, the preparedness of the director, what the director is trying to do with certain positions or camera angles, etc.
For me personally, I'd estimate 10-12 cuts per scene. I'm not so concerned about capturing everything in one continuous take. I'd prefer to get the angles and positions just right, which often requires stopping to provide verbal instruction.

10-12 woah. Thanks Brother Ananas, so predictable next question. Could we not sort these scenes by:
1) DAP + wet
2) non-DAP + wet
3) non-DAP & dry
4) DAP + dry
I dunno if I'm missing something here, math isn't my strongpoint.
Eitherway, we'd all be happy?

I don't shoot "wet" content, so I can't speak to that, but generally speaking each DAP set-up is a cut, anything with a specific arrangement of performers is a cut (so that you can explain what you need the talent to do), and there are usually 3-4 breaks for guys to catch their breath interspersed throughout the scene. Depending on the guys, each cumshot may also require a separate cut.
I do more cuts than most other directors, though, because I like to explain what I want so that the talent understands and can work to deliver a even better version of it.

Thankyou Mister Ananas.
