Guys, I have little Toyota Aygo, sorry Yaris (my mum had Aygo so I copied nearly) that I bought new several years ago - I've driven her almost 250k in time since, I reckon I'll get one more year out of her. Anyone recommend a hardworking second-hand type of model when she hits last legs?

Man, I don't know if this is the best place to be asking about cars, but I drive a Civic and it is a functional, affordable, reliable, and fuel-efficient car, which is all I care about in a vehicle. Will probably run you somewhere around $21-25k USD, though. Does that fit within your budget?

Hey Mister Ananas, you're man after own heart! Car status bolloxoligy we're on level - TBH I could have any fucking car within reason. My priorities are fuel consumption, is it safe to leave her outside at night or is she a joyrider magnet? / are getting parts a problem? Love that, Honda Civic. Theres two confident men, one in their Aygo, another in their Civic, not giving a fuck eitherway!

Actually Ananas, I just checked out Civic... she looks far cooler car than mine! Just goes how little I know!

Hahaha... a Civic will not win you any style points. It may not be a Stationwagon, but it is by no means a flashy vehicle. It's elegant, but mostly just functional and efficient, which is all I care about. Honda provides active maintenance for all of their models, and the Civic is one of their top selling models, so finding parts for it is not difficult. By the way, that $21-25k price point is for a brand new vehicle. If you buy it second-hand, and/or you get a model from 3-4 years ago, I'm sure it's considerably cheaper.

I've had mine for five years and have never had any problems with it. Lots of city driving and a fair amount of highway miles too.

I also have a two-door coupe variant, which they don't make anymore, but I think they only stopped this year so you can probably still get one new.

COOL... in reserve the ace of spades.. about me, I wanna leave my job, its shift work with travel, I'm 50 & its killing me, just to give context. So I'm looking for something more local, if less well paying. So just A-B is good enough for me. I've me own home & its lovely so I don't give an XXX what anyone thinks of what I'm driving!

Anyway, now shes passed govt test, I've year to think about it. Funny you can think of old cars like pets... the day you hav to put them to sleep its a killer.

Look at a 2018 Seat Leon FR. Parts are not expensive, looks good, vag Technology, Petrol engines with turbo are fun to drive

Ever think about buying a hybrid, all electric car? Given that money is not really a problem and the fact you're not particularly a model-driven kind of buyer. You get fuel efficiency...like...lots of it. They don't look that bad either.

Sorry I updated post, meant to edit it. Pointless though it might be to most, I appreciate the suggestions that were made.

I've an Alfa Romeo Giulietta. It's nearly 10 years old and I've never had any problems with it (to be precise, I have been driving it since 2018, when my father - the original owner - died).

It's true that I do not drive a lot, but Giulietta is for sure a very stylish and comfortable car. I've never driven other car than Italian ones (Fiat, Alfa Romeo) and in spite of the fact that they are not considered to be as reliable as Japanese or German vehicles, I just can't complain. Never had any major issues with them.

However, what makes me literally mad, is the fact that Alfa Romeo stopped to produce small cars - MiTo and Giulietta. It's a shame. I really don't like big vehicles.

Ha! So So kind of you Zizi, I mean that!! She's passed govt money spinning test until 2022, so I'm thrilled - she's got nearly 250K on her now since I bought her new, gives me time to well think about replacement. Ananas & others were also great with advice.
