The Czech Republic closed its borders early and fared better than most other countries did. Also, we know there are multiple strains of the coronavirus around the world, so perhaps the strain that impacted the Czech Republic was less severe. It's impossible to know at this point.

I still think it's a mistake to begin shooting again, even if the official government restrictions have been lifted. There's still too much we don't know about the virus. It's definitely not "just the flu"... the flu does not generally cause kidney failure, heart failure, massive blood clots in major arteries, etc, yet the coronavirus is known to do all of those things in its most unfortunate victims. There are even reports that it can remain dormant in the brain and then re-activate after a period of time. If that's even remotely true, we are totally fucked.

I don't think people should stay inside their homes 24/7. We need to learn to live with the virus, at least for the time being. However, I don't think that means we should return to life pre-COVID. Porn is a direct-contact business which requires many strangers to be in very close proximity to each other for an extended period of time in a confined space. That does not sound like a smart thing to do right now. Industry professionals can find other sources of income in the meantime. The economy will guide itself anyway as more and more people lack enough disposable income to buy porn. That's where this virus is really going to cause long-term damage: the economic effects.

First of all, this is just my personal opinion.

Spain has almost 30,000 dead. France has almost 28,000 dead. Italy has over 30,000 dead. UK has almost 33,000 dead. Poland, the Czech Republic and Russia combined have less than 3,500 dead. I absolutely lack the belief that these numbers are even remotely correct. In Russia, for example, there is no control at all. A country that has no health system at all has only 250K infected and 2300 dead for a population of 144 million. You have to be naive....

No, Czech, Slowakia, Hungary and Poland introduced social distancing measures very early and introduced really expensive fines for their break. This kept the numbers pretty low, unlike Italy where half ppl in quarantine left it. In Poland or Czech it was below 1%.

Russia is another pair of shoes, another system as well, closer to China than Czech for sure.

The virus is transferred by people, it doesn’t fly there on its own. They didn’t let people in or out and they restricted travel within the country. Things that those other countries you mentioned didn’t do nearly as early and to the same extent. These conspiracies are laughable.

Well, the primary risk is that we still don't fully understand the communicability of the virus. Just because the cases in the Czech Republic are low today does not mean they will stay low forever. The consequences of a pretty-much full re-opening could erase all of the progress they have made.

The fact that there are multiple known strains of the virus just makes it harder to predict. What happened in Italy may not happen in the Czech Republic. It could be a lot better. It could be a lot worse. We just don't know.

There are not fucking riots because people in italy have a lot of saving, but it is estimated 2/5 of activities wont open again.
Decrease in life expectancy, unemployment at 20% (which was already over 10%), do you have any idea what Im talking about?

Covid will stay for us long time, maybe forever.
What can we do? just stay at home and sit waiting money from government for ever and live remembering how life was before?
I prefer to go out with precautions and take my risks.

P.S. Data in Cz are for sure realistic, I believe also about Hungary. About Russia I have no idea, but Russians are in general younger than Italians, I think about 38 y.o average Vs over 45 y.o. in Italy.

The main problem in Italy is that they didn't close down early enough and people were ignoring the stay-at-home orders. In the United States, we saw the same thing happen in places like New Orleans, which became one of the hardest-hit cities in the country because dumb rednecks were going out partying as if nothing was different.

We've talked about the economic fallout of this virus in other threads, and I agree with you sentiment that the long-term damage is going to be catastrophic, maybe even on the level of the Great Depression. However, if we just let the virus roam freely, it would be even worse. The data supports that. Imagine a hospital system which lacks the capacity to treat anybody, COVID or not, because there is no space for new patients. Imagine the economic impact of millions of deaths all happening at the same time.

This is (probably) not the end of humanity. We'll make it through this. At the same time, though, it's not a normal event, and it's okay to acknowledge the abnormality of what's happening right now. We shouldn't feel 100% safe because we're not 100% safe, but rather than being scared by this, we should simply be informed and make good choices.
