What do you guys think? Is there a merit to taking a break in your porn consumption?

Sure, if I find that I'm having issues sustaining an erection or struggling to cum etc, then taking a couple of days off can help get my equipment back in order. Not fapping for an entire month or longer though? Fuck that. No matter how great the first orgamas afterwards is, it's never going to make up for all the ones you missed.

I have found that I don't sleep very well if I go at it late. Unfortunately that is the best time.
I also get jaded and need one to two days off per week. I find that when I have had a break I find pleasure in less hard core scenes, which is a good thing.

Sometimes yeah. If things get boring or you are nit picking every scene, and even the smallest thing is "ruining it" for you; or it just becomes an over all tedious thing. Take a break.
I think a lot of our forum posters would do well to take a break and recharge their love for porn.
Too much of anything makes it routine and boring.
I dont have a lot of time so I may only watch 6 - 8 hours of scenes in a week; so I don't get bored or routine. But I know there were times when I was younger and had more free time that I might watch 3 - 4 hours in a day and that can burn you out.
EVeryone is different, but if porn is not fun and exciting and getting you horny to go fuck; then a break is healthy

Exactly the opposite for me.

I take breaks regularly. Maybe a few days, sometimes a week or two.
Sometimes voluntary, sometimes enforced (work, travel, social commitments).
I find that absence makes the cock grow fonder.
I even enjoy the excitement of knowing that after a week of no fapping and no checking LP there will be a mountain of amazing scenes to immerse myself in when time allows.

They're sick in the head. They think this lack of masturbation gives them super-powers. It's a weird new-age cult, and weirdly I have seen both left and right-wingers embrace t. I don't like them and I think they're a threat to the pornography industry, in all forms you can think of and even to some improbable ones you didn't think about it(rule 34, check it out if you never heard of it).

As with all things in life, you should listen to your body and do whatever you need to do to enrich your own life. Fuck what anyone else says and just do what's best for yourself. If your porn consumption is becoming an addiction or causing any other kinds of issues for you, then take a break. Otherwise, if you are able to enjoy it without losing control of yourself, then why stop? Ultimately, it's gotta be your choice, and it's your own responsibility to make choices for yourself that better yourself.
I took a break from porn for two years. Didn't make it, didn't watch it, didn't even think about it... At least, not after the first couple months away from it.

It was what I needed. I had gotten too personally involved in porn and I lost sight of why it was fun in the first place, so I decided to do a hard reset and see if I could find my passion for it after a long break. It wasn't NoFap or NoSex, but it was two solid years of NoPorn.
It worked, and I don't regret doing it, but I probably won't ever do it again.

Wise words EP.
This is all about fun and fantasy. Or should be.
Some of the threads in here make every detail sound like life and death.
If you care that much about any aspect of porn, maybe it’s time to find another passion in life.

Taking a 'reset' break is fine, but some of the hardcore no-fappers do come across a bit like General Ripper from the 'Dr. Strangelove' movie. At least, they seem that way to me!

I think it's actually a really good idea to take breaks, even if it's just a few days off. You definitely come back feeling recharged and the tiny details that make you have a hard time enjoying a scene don't seem to matter that much. I really wish I had the motivation to take breaks more, but it is very hard for me to sleep without consuming anal porn.

The "no fap- movement" is not about taking breaks out of logical thoughts. It is about denial of sexual needs and a biased urge to blame porn for all the issues you may have in relation to sex. A lot of so called spiritual people use this movement to feed their ego as well. Saying masturbating is unhealthy and claims to prove that by foggy language like; "Porn drains energy". Really... What do you mean about the term "energy"? The answer is equally foggy. Now, guys. Let`s try to be reasonable here. If you have social anxiety and use porn as a way to isolate yourself from reality, then you may have a mental issue. But me or you having a mental issue doesn`t mean that we solve the problem by demonizing a stimula. Porn is porn. What we allow porn to be is another thing. Sometimes it`s tacky and stupid and it lacks sexual intelligence. But porn can also be a fantasy we may use to let some steam out.

Thank you for all great answers. I think you have made some really great points and I just wanted to have a dialogue with different perspectives. I didn't have any specific agenda.
Sometimes we tend to be unnecessarily upset here on internet, dialogue and discussion is often more enjoyable than debate.

Wise words Robin Reid. NoFap based on pseudoscience bullshit, and now people are sacrificing their enjoyment of porn and relieving sexual stress.
Btw, purchased your scene with Lara Bunny when it came out—outstanding job fucking her. Hope to see you perform more on this site.

I did this once when i was 20.
I did not fap for something like 3 months straight. It turned me into a fucking animal, i swear anything with something resembling a vagina was attracting to me. I wanted to fuck my 50 something ugly colleague in the ass right on her desk.
Mind boggling experience, testosterone is a hell of a thing!
You want to know why all those religious savages are so angry, sadistic and intolerant all the time? Because those fuckers don't fap and are sexually frustrated by their bullshit religious rules. If all the men in the world would fap once a day, crime rates would drop and we would live in a peacefull world
Amen

Masturbation is self limiting. if you can't get hard for that 8th time in a day, or when your dick gets red and raw, time to lay off it for a couple of days. Other than that, if it gets hard, enjoy.

I have a friend of mine who joined in with the No Fap movement shortly after college. It was all he talked about for like 6 months.
I think if you're wacking off to the point that you get red and chaffed, you have a much bigger and deeper issue going on than watching porn.

There is plenty of data to suggest that communities that are sexually open and liberated have far less crime rates from people within that community.
Sexual oppression does seem to have a negative affect on human behavior.
