Don't know if I can be bothered downloading all my favourite scenes again, Ironcally I was just in the process of backing up my data on a new drive when it died .... possibly too much pron for it to handle

Western, I'll try a USB dock and try and recover the data otherwise all my porno from Legalporno is gone

If your pc can still detect the drive I have had good results with a free program called "Recuva" at recovering files from failing HDDs using the "deep scan" option.

Had a similar issue on a 3TB HDD. Had all my favourites saved on it. Took me about 3 days to recover most of the files.

Stupidly I have not learnt my lesson and are still not backing it up.

Be careful with cloud backups though. I recently used onedrive on my phone to transfer some files, then shortly later used my personal account to sink some stuff onto a work PC. Unbeknownst to me it had started syncing all my phone pics automatically to my work devices. What a panic moment I had when I realised my "private" pictures of myself with some "working ladies" had downloaded onto my work desktop and laptop!

Luckily I was alone and my co-workers I share my office with was out of the room when I opened the folder and all the preview pics came up. You can bet I cleaned it up quick smart. Definitely would have been fired if the wrong person saw it.

I've had the drive under a year and its still in warranty, So I might get a new drive out of it people on Western Digitial will get quite a lot of porn to look at , My PC won't boot up when the faulty drive is in, So its a slim chance I might get the data back if it stick it in a USB dock later on

Data is data. Western Digital should take care of it. That's who did the recovery on my old drive.

As to your question laura, PornBox just keeps getting bigger. You can't fill it up. Similar to Isabella Clark's gape

Better to go with an SSD disk, last time i had a Western Digital one i lost around 2 TB of porn videos !

Could just be the OS files, boot up from another drive and connect that drive as an add'l drive and you may be able to get most of your files off it. Has happened to me before, I just load the OS on another drive.

@Anotherfine: All I'll say is, be super careful when partitioning in a windows environment, something always goes wrong, unless the partition you're referring to is just the standard windows install partitioning. Either way, someone I knew had the exact same issue you had, luckily, you can simply connect another hdd to boot into, connect your bad hdd and see if you can access the files on it. If not, do all I mentioned, but this time, use a cool tool I know about which will sort you out. Even if it’s seriously bad in terms of the sectors on the drive, this tool will GET YOUR PRECIOUS PORN BACK, I’m 99% certain of it.

Also, this could all be blown out of proportion, and like @shark1 said – “Could just be the OS files”, and that way, it’s super simply to fix.

You prob want to get the NTFS one unless your on FAT32, plus, you may require the full version, if you do need it, I could sent it to you

Thanks Josh, If I attach the dead HDD to a USB caddy it won't let me access the files, As the partition is damaged its now a raw drive

Well, don’t touch the drive whilst attached to your computer with the USB connection. I recommend, if you're on a PC and not a laptop, to try and connect the drive via the SATA connector (if this is possible?), if not, try reconnecting drive via USB connection and get the program I was referring to, trust me, even if the partition is stuffed, it will recognise the drive, and you can access the volume, so say all your porn is in a particular folder, you can gain access. Hopefully this is helpful and at least makes some sense to you?

Thnanks Josh looks like that program is going to do the trick, I'll just need to buy the licensed version and I'll be able to copy all of by files to a working HDD

When you computer speaks to your harddrive the partition is the little bit of software on the harddrive that says hello back

No prob Anotherfine, I suppose the price of the app is a small price to pay for all your beloved porn, I know I'd be freaking out considering all the porn on my HDD's

Oh man, this just happened to me. I had stored all my scenes on External HD and i accidentally dropped it yesterday and it seems it is dead now. Gonna be a hell of a work to download the scenes again.

My PC still kinda recognizes the HD. When i plug it in it takes like 30 min for the PC to load it and then when i browse through it it loads the folders really slow and if i try to play a video it plays it a few sec, stops to load for 5sec and then plays few sec again.

just happened to me last night.
After years of building, gone. (accidentally wiped it while i was installing an OS onto drive)
I dont feel like recovering those files either, its going to take me forever, especially when im with my lady

But todays update with cherry kiss & alexis crystal cheered me up a little, its going to be the first thing going into my hard drive.

I have spent a lot of money to make sure I don't lose files, always have another drive backing up my 4TB and 6TB drives incase one crashes.

With HD files now the norm, my porn collection exceeds 5TB. It is getting harder and harder to track what files are on which drive. I have backups on various 1TB to 5TB drives but need to organize. I picked up two more 5TB drives from Costco for backing up but finding time to sort all this out is difficult with work and life time pressures in general. A good backup plan is nice to have but difficult to achieve with such a large volume of data.

Do you know guys that you could acquire much faster internet with some cloud based storage subscription (or even just use PornBox) instead of buying overpriced pieces of junk metal with 5/6TB stickers on it? Just saying

After posting earlier today I thought about cloud based alternatives. A lot has changed in the past few years and going to the cloud may be the way to go. Amazon Cloud Drive offers unlimited storage for $60 USD annually; however, their interface is clunky and doesn't natively sync files. That said, for the price I am seriously considering it. $60/yr vs. $240 for two 5TB drives that I worry about their eventual crashing - I see the future. Those two drives I just purchased are being returned to Costco.

I just wish LP can come up with a pornbox app for PlayStation 3 Xbox 360 consoles and up.

Set up my NAS this weekend 36tb of space! Raid5, no need to worry about a drive dying.

Really? 36TB on RAID 5? You must be crazy, man (no offence though) . Do you realize that this setup is FAR MORE prone to fail with all data loss than a single drive unless you do regular (differencial) backups? And backing up 36TB that's additional cost. With your NAS you should switch to RAID 6 or 10 (and do regular backups as well).

I'm sure hosting big data online is the way to go especially for an individual and much less expensive in the long run (it's believed that mechanical drives' prices won't significantly drop anymore or even might get higher in several years).

IMHO Amazon Drive is a good choice. Personally I'd avoid grey services known to host illegal content like mega-something etc., IMHO I'd be afraid about my data leaking as warez, effectively blocking LP account or legal countermeasures because it's so easy to sniff thru subscribers' files and post them somewhere as "hot" content which attracts more users means more ads money.

RIP to my external Toshiba 500 gb, used just by 30 hours, I knew it was a piece of shit.
