Is making PMVs against ToS?

For anyone who doesn't know, PMV is porn music video, which is like a compilation video but typically tied to the music more than the videos. They tend to wind up kinda similar to the trailer videos that studios make for LP (music, short cuts etc)

So we agree not to distribute the videos online, as they're supposed to be downloaded for private use only right. But the LP players even have features for grabbing GIFs of limited times and encourage sharing trailers etc. If a PMV lasts a couple of minutes, and only really includes pretty quick cuts of a couple of seconds or less it's not really too different than just getting the GIF snips and compiling them along with music, right?

But it's weird territory when it comes to these sort of agreements. There are tonnes and tonnes of PMVs out there, but I also don't know if the people creating them are hiding their names etc from the places they get the content from. Does anyone know how studios would feel about something like that? Could it be viewed as basically just creating a new trailer/fanart kind of thing, or would it be viewed as maliciously distributing content?

I like them. Just don't use full scenes. You can make compilations and you have to add value with music, text, editing, etc. I think they can be great brand promotion if done well and still be very satisfying for the average freeloader.

So it wouldn't get me into any kind of trouble here (I don't want to lose access to my favourite porn site! ) if I uploaded them, following that? The video I have planned out, most clips are shorter than what GIFs would typically be, and it has like two clips around 5 seconds long. It really is more about the editing and music to show off some fun visuals and the porn start, than about getting to *watch* the actual fucking. But totally, I'd love to be able to help guide people towards this site rather than make people feel like they don't need to

Straight up, I discovered this site because of PMVs, and it's the first porn site I've actually come and put money into and stuck with for long! <3

I totally will. It was one reason I was asking actually, I would want to share with the community here but really didn't feel like risking the banhammer or anything

I'm super stoked that this seems okay'd by the bosses here but. I don't think I'll be able to make them w/ any real regularlity I have so much other illustration work to do, but would love to loosely get involved in doing it, it's a super fun concept and so different from what I usually do and they're just so fun to watch and see the creativity involved in how people can make any scenes seem out of this world!

I made it!
It had to be a bit rough. I've not made one before, and only really had a couple of days to put it together before getting back to commissions so I wanted to wrap it up as is. I'd like to do another one that's a bit more strict on the visual theme tho, but it was crazy fun to put together. I hope you enjoy it!

Also I found people to give me some advice with making thumbnails and things and turns out there's a PMV contest going on right now and it's open to everything, so I couldn't help myself but enter it in just for the shits of it!

I appreciate that you see benefits in this, when the videos stay „compilations“. Don’t forget that PH is more popular in western countries (with higher purchase power -> more profit for you) than other plattforms. They might work against LP, but their visitors don’t care about it and get attracted to LP.

I know what I‘m talking about, because of a compilation with >1 million views. Many People (mostly from USA, Canada) ask me about names and sources in the comments or with private messages. I provide them the names, and of course I promote and recommend LP to them - for free. Apart from buying the movies, this is my way to support what I like. And I strongly take care and know my limits by doing this.

A single video doesn't mean anything.

If you look at similar web xvideos alone is higher than Ph worldwide. Xvideos is popular everywhere while Ph is focusing their PR where people pay.

Pornhub looks slightly more popular in the west according to similarweb EXCEPT they buy a HUGE amount of bad/cheap traffic (and they always have - since the very beginning of the site) and we buy NONE. That affects the rankings and is visible with their lower time on site. Plus we have 2 sites with top traffic and they have just 1.

Pornhub does absolutely everything they can to cut competitors from content, and other things, so fuck them. You think they are cool because of good PR brainwashing and some other qualities but they are absolute trash behind that. They will not hesitate to fuck anyone if they can gain money from it.

Posting to various tube sites is great, but they all fuck up the quality of your video. They'll reprocess it, reducing the resolution and bitrate, and just make it look not as great. If you share things to XVideos or elsewhere, you should also throw your stuff in a MEGA and put that somewhere accessible so people can grab the best copy.

It would be a good way to recycle old content. It's also a good way to promote the site!

TBC, I like many compilation videos and appreciate the effort involved. And I know there is effort!
What I do not understand is why add music at all? It is usually really distracting for me and lessens the porn appeal.
I would much prefer to have the actual soundtrack native to the video than someone else’s taste in music. Some of the worst examples are the “hypno” ones that call the viewer gay, or otherwise try to humiliate.
Hearing Nikki Hill’s moans and squeals is all the “music” I want.

Technical questions, please:
What software do you use to create the comp?
Is the music necessary for copyright protection?
Is the music necessary to cover audio imperfections or any other factor other than simply taste?
