Emoticon/smiley forum issue/bug

For quite some time now (must be months?) emoticons/smileys do not get posted horizontally but vertically.
So very often you see ridiculous looking posts like this.

Great girl. :) :) :) :) :)

Is nobody interested to take care of this bug?

Is there a way where you can allow 72x72 (and smaller) images to display horizontally?

All the emoticons from Twitter now display vertically:
