Books can be great, but it's probably great to stick with classics sometimes.
Penguin classics used to be fantastic, particularly their non-English literature sections, that had so many great classic Chinese, Russian, European novels, from Dante to Ching Lao Tzu to Turgenev to Cervantes.
You could do worse.

Actually, it's just struck me for first time that my literature voyage was like my musical voyage.
Blitzkrieg. Hit the main points with the tanks & dive-bombers. Don't bother getting stuck in a James Joyce | Dos Passos killing field (having to translate every half-baked idea they came up with - life is too short);
Take the main points over a 500 km area. Then follow through with the infantry.
life is too short.

Ok, just gonna recommend one random book and series.
Art Sex Music by Cosey Fanni Tutti
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/318 ... -sex-musicTV series. If you don't have any aversion to the science fiction genre,
The Expanse can be pretty good.

You're kinda protected right now in Eastern Europe of what's goin' on over here. We just got people coming in left right & centre. Govt & media completely ignoring it. It's like they are calling for a complete social breakdown. That's just the way it is.

i mean not-fiction books
like when the bible teaches you that homosexuality is an abomination
Leviticus 20:13
If a man lies with a man as with a woman, they have both committed an abomination. They must surely be put to death; their blood is upon them.

the book was nice but i prefer movies, reading is so much work
i like easier more fun stuff

I remember I worked with this old guy, 25 years ago in the city of London, a true cockney born & bred. And he said to me, all these years, & he'd never visited St Paul's Cathedral.
It happens. But I don't want it happen to me, but it so easily happens.

I understand the sentiment, I sometimes feel the same about where I live haha, so many exciting places right around my corner that I'd discovered much too late. Btw, If I ever were to go to Ireland, visiting the Gaeltacht or whatever is left of it would be one my top priorities. Seeing a Celtic language and in particular both Gaelic and Irish spoken in real life is just something that has become so rare and I'd like to experience it once in my lifetime.

Great places are actually Wales, & up around the north of England. I'm talking Northumbria. Lancashire is just a mess. In fact you fly over England coming in over Liverpool through Manchester, through Sheffield, through Birmingham, through London, looking down, it's just a porno-environmental disaster. But strangely, if you push up past Lancashire to Cumbria, Northumberland, Durham, & the Scottish lowlands, it get's totally pretty & uninhabited. Wales is amazing too for forts.
But look, it's nothing that you don't have back home. It's on ALL OF OUR DOORSTEPS. If I were talking now from the Dordogne in France, it'd be the same.
On the other side of things, if you are planning to come over to this part, let me know, & I'll surely put you up - obviously late Spring, Summer or early Autumn is the best time for so many reasons. It's not an issue. I was down the river last night. I was wearing my spectacles which I seldom do, & I was observing a fort, a castle that was destroyed in the 1640's. I couldn't help but observe just how many arrow slits there were in the remaining castle ruins, this was clearly built not for comfort. I think that is why I posted the thing about history last night. I looked at the castle walls, & the band YOU introduced to me, just hit me so hard.

But I think another thing I was trying to say was that you take for granted what's on your doorstep. I've been so many times to Sweden, Germany, Czech Republic & Hungary to view these splendours but I'd look down on what was on my own doorstep. This is probably a theme common to us all of a certain vintage. The nationalist establishment (those of us aged 40-60 & more were subjected to this) would have us over-emphasise the importance of the indigenous as opposed to a world view. So we, who were of some insight, would naturally reject this as a parochial view. But in doing this, we threw the baby out with the bathwater. We would reject what was native to us as being overblown, & put the 'exotic' before us, when really both were of equal value.
My advice to you would be to take in all the majesty of the Balkans. Reconcile it's value with anything else on offer in the world AS BEING OF AN EQUAL, & then look at other situations. I hope I make sense.
Because I can tell you, anything within 80km of where you reside is EQUAL to anything within 80km of where I reside. And either | or would equal the majesty of the Pharoh's or Greeks or Romans.

A movie that I recommend is Anora.
It is a realistic overview of a character played by Mikey Madison who is primarily a stripper, but also a prostitute.
The movie is a rollercoaster of emotions, and killed it recently in the Oscars, scooping lots of awards.
It does not overly glamourise sex work, but puts it across in a very grounded and entertaining manner.
