Can Georgia possibly do it?
Can anyone do what Greece did in 2004?

As a fan of Croatia, Netherlands and Belgium I am hoping NL will finally come through and win tournament. But that's just my personal hope. Other than that I am guessing it will be one of the usual suspects, Spain or Germany, maybe France if they can up their game. But one shouldn't rule out England just yet, they seem quite unpredictable right now so who knows. Also wish all the best luck to Georgia, they've been putting all their hearts into this and it paid off for them so far.

You're right, England have been so poor, they just might find their groove. Tournaments always have been about peaking at the right time. Just like Italy in 1982.

What a dismal performance by Italy and what a great performance by the Swiss, a well-deserved win. Kudos.

On the back of tonight's performance...England have a decent chance...the winners of key championships always start slow. But they have the right overall squad, a very strong starting line-up, and the key is a winning mentality...which England seem to have.
It also helps a lot that they have been placed on a side of the draw that is very favourable.
They were finalists and runners-up last time, they have been gifted a great opportunity to win it. They have some of the best attacking players in the world.
They have experience in their squad too with Harry Kane, Jordan Pickford, John Stones, Kieran Trippier, Kyle Walker etc, with some of the best young, newer talents too.

I just wish they had the pre-1998 ball... man, I could play myself, left foot right foot, these guys are playing a different game. On a skill level I'd fancy myself anytime, they just don't have a clue.
This is football, this is a footballer, & I'm sure Anselm, there are many Yugoslav greats who'd compete:

To be fair, most of all the remaining sides have delivered a lacklustre performance so far. I can't help but support my favourites even if they're doing badly. So, I say bring it on, Oranje. But I wouldn't be too disappointed if England by some miracle made it through. Just as long as it's not England against France in the finals, I'll be happy.

Whoah, I was a bit intoxicated when I said that. But what shocked me 'cos I don't watch much football these days, is that both the Swiss & English teams seemed to be running around like a shoal of fish passing the ball to the nearest man. No one had the wit to play an intriguing ball that could cut the other in half, or switch play. It was depressingly unimaginative.
I couldn't help but take notice of the Swiss manager who I believe to be a Turk. He has to be one of the most strikingly handsome men I've ever seen.

I think England will scrape through against the Netherlands, and France will scrape through against the Spanish.
Then with England versus France...it will go down to penalties, and then it is more or less a coin flip.

It'd be nice to see England win. Cole Palmer should be playing.

It was painful to watch France not managing to put together a convincing attack time and time again. Really feel sorry for them in a way.

Great outcome for Spain, but on paper - i felt that France had the marginally better squad.

Now that it is England vs Spain, I am still going to go against the favourites (Spain), and back England to win the FInal in some way.

I am delighted for England. Foden played well. Southgate has to have the courage to drop Harry.

I can tell you right now Southgate won't have the courage to drop Harry!

Loyalty needs go out the window now. Cole Palmer & dude who scored against Holland need be brought on now. Kane & possibly Foden off now. You can't be so cruel to give these talents 15 or 20 mins... you gotta be a man here, make manly decisions. Or you deserve to lose.

Be a man, Southgate, make the changes at half time.

Sad to see them go like this, massive respect to Cole Palmer, though. Spain was the better team all around.

Definetly Spain has been the best, not just obviously for winning, just because they played their game and implanted their style: Speed and ball control.
A lot of people surely didn't know a lot of the Spanish players, in this era, the majority of them doesn't play and are from R.Madrid and Barcelona as before.
It's was a surprise, is a young team with a new coach who changed the old system making a mix between speed and ball control, in the gold era Spain was full ball control but less speed, Spain is very proud of the championship that the team did: Winning 4 world champions in the championship and having one of the most difficult pools, including the most difficult bracket.
The difference in this tournament is that the others teams didn't have a system, too much physical and defensive, Spain has been the contrary.
Clear diserve winner.

Well said! Congratulations Spain!
