I spoke of Nelson's outrageous recklessness at Trafalgar... but Pizzarro & his few men, however undoubtably destructive they were, its some story they could tell us were they here:

This kicked off in my head 35 years ago listening to Joy Divisions 'Dead Souls' & asking myself, "who were the conquistadors?"

"Someone take these dreams away,
That point me to another day,
A duel of personalities,
That stretch all true realities.
That keep calling me, They keep calling me,
Keep on calling me, They keep calling me.

Where figures from the past stand tall,
And mocking voices ring the halls.
Imperialistic house of prayer,
Conquistadors who took their share.
That keep calling me, They keep calling me,
Keep on calling me, They keep calling me"

Have you heard the Nine Inch Nails cover of this song?

I will advocate just this one time for the Church (just once) and say that if you look into the Conquistadors, the monks were the ones advocating against exploitation of the natives by the Conquistadors. A very large share of the Conquistadors were conversos who had very little belief in Christianity. They were slavers before they "converted" to Christianity and continued their exploitation after that.
