The most powerful movie which left a lasting impression on me is "Event Horizon". I watched it as a young adult, and it was so good and scary...I have only ever seen it the once at the cinema.
That was some POWER it had over me lol!

Another powerful movie, which made me think and left a lasting impression on me was Lust, Caution directed by Ang Lee.
However, you'd better watch that one with subtitles!

I'd say it all depends on the genre.

Since this is in the off-topic section, I would presume you mean non-porn.
I would say "
For A Few Dollars More" with Clint Eastwood and Lee Van Cleef.
Two Sigma Males not afraid to be Men. Lots of action and fantastic music.
It made the highly rated follow-up, "The Good, The Bad and The Ugly" kind of boring, to me.
Lots of opinions from others as to which of the two might have been the better movie.
- Clint Eastwood and Lee Van Cleef in For A Few Dollars More

WOW! Gonna check that out. I've been mad searching for this French 1990's film about a priest trying to help a poor family out in these steel post-WWII 'communities' | ghettoes. The female lead was an incredibly dignified performance. There was nothing seedy about 'priest' role.
I can't find nothing Iddaoeek.
Ring a bell per long-distance chance?
If it does, that'd be sure swell..

Contact from the 90s was a great movie. Only ever seen it the once in the cinema, when it was first released. (Starting to think I may have a space fascination...another previous suggestion was Event Horizon)!
For a movie that is mostly a drama, it felt very powerful to me...especially the understated nature of the ending.

Its a dreadful name for such a thought-invading movie though! "Event horizon" starring Tom Cruise or Matt Damon adventure crap comes to mind?

So many that affected me profoundly... Most have to do with the injustices man has placed upon others. American History X (1998), Gandhi (1982), Full Metal Jacket (1987), A Clockwork Orange (1971), Malcom X (1992)
Special shout out to The Matrix (1999), it was such a different kind of movie when it first came out in the cinemas. Growing up as a kid after that movie came out, I don't think they can really appreciate how different it was to everything that had been made before. Great action movie

No doubt: "The room" by Tommy Wiseau.

The start of Saving Private Ryan. Scary! I can’t imagine me and my friends landing on that beach aged 18 and 19. So brave.

I'd definitely be one of the guys getting immediately mowed down by machineguns as soon as the doors dropped.
