Thanks. I just detect a layer of misogny in AGOT that doesn't quite seem right for prime-time television. Of course, were I a 14 year old boy it'd be like a porn paradise for me.
There is massive misogyny in GOT but that is one of the points; to show more accurate depiction of that era of human development that we experienced, and still do in some countries. However, the strong women end up dominating the TV show long term and so it balances out.
The show is gritty from many people's perspectives. But it does give some insight into middle ages European history and how familes and houses and nobility and royalty treated people with forced marriages, religious hypocrisy, abuse, murder, rape, etc etc.
