In the days when porn was only on film -- pre-VCR, pre-DVD, pre-internet & computers -- the economic reality tended to force porn producers to go "mainstream." There were people who were outraged by Linda Lovelace showing us all that deepthroating was possible, or by Marilyn Chambers showing us that there was anal sex, too, behind that green door; those films were outside the mainstream of their time, but they ended up expanding the width of the stream, if you will.
Now any 18-year-old anywhere in the world with a smart phone can make and post porn to the internet, and webcam girls can, within limits (that will soon be surpassed by VR gear), enact it in real-time to individual consumers' order. Video & internet technology have essentially abolished all barriers to entry of new producers into this marketplace.
And in particular, digitized porn, like the mp4 files I download from LP, can give me with each download an hour-plus of hardcore porn that includes many, many different kinds of performers, acts, and fetishes. If there's one that I find off-putting, I don't even have to wait for the damned VCR cassette to fast-forward or rewind; with a mouseclick, I can go instantly to any point in that performance, and if I don't find anything I like, another short series of mouse-clicks and three seconds later I'm watching something entirely different.
Archeologists tell us they've found porn depictions that predate written language. I'm sure when Edison invented the motion picture, the porn makers who promptly coopted that technology thought they were in the "golden age of porn." And relative to everyone who'd viewed and enjoyed nothing better than a few "French postcards" before motion pictures, they were.
I don't resent or begrudge the folks who post "I'm sick of this or that." They're participating in the free flow of information, some of it brilliant and foresighted, some of it outright idiotic and bizarre, which will in turn communicate to producers about the marketplace's overall demand for particular kinds of porn. This very forum -- in which I see frequent dialog between fans & producers -- is facilitating a more orderly and better-informed market, the result of which will eventually be that everyone's satisfaction, both producers' and consumers', will improve over time.
So take a moment, perhaps, when you express your preferences -- "Bring back the pee!" or "more Bukake!," or "don't take those stiletto pumps off!" or "show us the toes!" -- to show your appreciation. And perhaps try not to be harsh or mean in commenting on someone else's kinks and dreams.
'Cause this is all about having fun -- intense, yummy, tingly-bit fun -- and the creation of free-market exchanges that leave both buyer and seller better off.
