Dont expect any insiders to answer this question, the more that there is such a big difference between a small semi-amateur studio and a pro biz endeavor like GIO with many full-time employees like camera, drivers, cleaning, editing, MU, logistic, financial manager etc.

As a basic rule I'd say ideal would be the number of scans shot per month re-finance the next months same number + studio owners living costs.
