Naming of scenes

Postby Dominator » Tue Mar 11, 2014 7:09 pm

So, for whatever reason, since LP has changed the naming of its scenes to the "SZ" numbering system, I have found the scene titles to be more descriptive of what the scene contains and which performers are in it, which is good, but they are more difficult to organize now.

Before, the scenes all started with the kind, e.g. "PissMyAssOff" and then had a number, with higher numbers being more recent scenes. When you download hundreds of scenes like myself, this system was easy to organize on your computer. Files were easy to find, although, you wouldn't know who was in what scene until you opened the file or saw a preview. So, I understand the new system because it addresses that issue... but there are a couple of issues with the new system:

1) Lack of consistency -- now, some of the new scenes begin with one of the performer's names, e.g. "Sandra_Luberc_PMAO_3on1_Piss_Porno_SZ267" but others begin with a descriptive term for what the scene features, e.g. "PMAO_3_on_1_Eliza_Double_Anal_video_SZ348". The problem with this is when you have the files listed in the same folder, these two scenes, both PMAO scenes, will not be grouped together because of the inconsistent naming. For organization, it would be better if you stuck with one or the other. In my opinion, don't use the performer's names in the beginning because that doesn't allow for easy grouping of similar scenes, and also if they are not solo in the scene, then another performer's name may be listed first. So, again this prevents easy organization.

2) Unnecessary words in the titles -- e.g., ""Sandra_Luberc_PMAO_3on1_Piss_Porno_SZ267" If you already have the word "PMAO" then why do you need the word "piss"? And, even more importantly, why bother putting the word "porno"? We already know that these are porn files. It's very redundant and unnecessary. Likewise for the word "video". We know that already. It does nothing to help describe the scene's content or help organization of scenes. Omit these unnecessary words, please. This issue is very minor but will help organization by getting rid of excess words that don't help anything.

Again, do not take this feedback as a sign that I'm upset or unpleased with the material here at LP. I really love the videos! I just happened to be a customer who is willing to spend a lot on scenes. Right now, I have 198 of your scenes on my hard drive, and it can be frustrating to organize it with the inconsistency of the new system. Thanks!

You can rename files in Pornbox and also add tags. The search will also search your tags.

Thanks for replying. That is a nice function to have, but this mentality that it should be the users who must rename their files to keep them properly organized after they download them further underscores the lack of thought put into this website. Every other major porn studio has a consistent system of naming their video files. Why does LP resist such a basic concept?

You can name the files however you like, just be consistent so that it makes it easier to index and sort the files. Your previous numbering system did this. It's just that when you changed to the new SZ numbering system, it's almost as if you guys have 5 different people naming the files whatever they want, and this just reeks of amateur execution.

It's done like this for SEO.

Search engine optimization? Okay, that makes sense.

However, please use some consistency when it comes to what starts the file name. Please use "Kreme" or "PMAO" or "Monster Gapes" first before you put in the performers' names and sexual acts like "DAP", "piss", etc. It makes it much easier to catalogue on one's hard drive when you can group similar scenes with one click.

And unless I'm missing something, I still don't understand the need for the words "porn", "porno" or "video." Who would search for those terms on this site? Everything is a porno video.

Sorry to bring an old topic up, but if I rename scenes I have downloaded from LegalPorno, will anything happen to the video?

For instance, will the anti-piracy (black dots) feature kick in because I have tampered with the file?

I just want to organise my LP files better. Thanks for any help.
