Should having a trailer should be mandatory?

Really - how hard is it for these smaller studios to edit together a brief trailer for each scene? Anyone else feel this should be the bare minimum requirement for offering scenes for sale here? Does anyone here ever buy a scene based on screenshots and a 60 seconds of action-free (and often silent) footage from the very start of the movie? Do they want people to buy these scenes?

No trailer = no buy for me.
I sometimes get tempted by the little clips you see by mousing over the scene image and then end up checking out the screenshots but so far I'm pretty sure I've never actually taken the chance on buying a scene without a proper trailer.

Must have, it's marketing basically, people have to know what they're buying and if it's worth the value for what they are paying for.

No trailer no buy for me as well. Always want to see the trailer before buying to get a "sense" of the action in the scene. I totally get that editing together a trailer is time consuming, but at the same time if you don't show people what they're buying you can't expect them to give you their money. I find this is only a problem with the smaller, non-LP studios.
Also checking screenshots is a must for me too. They show how much of a certain act/position etc is in a scene. So if a scene is billed as DAP or fisting and the screenshots (which are roughly every 10-12s for a full length scene) only show a few frames of that act, you know there's not enough action to be worth the purchase.

You can influence studios with not buying their scenes if they don't have proper trailers. Very simple.

Speaking for myself and my own purchasing habits, a good trailer makes a big difference. I like to give the fruit a little squeeze before I buy. If I can't do that, then sorry, but it's no deal.
With AV/LP you tend to know what you're getting so that's never a worry, but there's a few of the Latin American studios whose product looks good right up until you click on what passes for the trailer, and it's just the first 30 seconds of the scene. Not even 30 seconds of action, just someone walking into a room or the girl being asked her name and how is she today. Nope, not for something that looks like it was shot with a smartphone. That's fine as far as it goes, but the customer's entitled to know if they're getting enough bang for their buck.
I don't think trailers needs to be mandatory. After all, not everyone has the technical skills or the resources to produce the kind of trailer that will guarantee a sale, but without a little more effort, you can forget it.

I won't even give any of the new studios a try. My feed is the old LP studios and offshoots. There is so much garbage on here now it is not even worth sorting through it.

Of course having a trailer should be mandatory. But even if it's not mandatory, having a trailer should be the most standard thing for every studio. How can you expect that customers get ready to buy your scenes if you don't show them a trailer of your stuff?
Since I opened my studio this year I edited a trailer for every single scene I published. It's true that editing a trailer can be more demanding and time consuming as editing the scene. Not that easy sometimes to make a choice about the strongest moments in a scene and put them together. But once again: If you are too lazy for this extra work, you simply can't expect that people are interested in your scenes or wanna buy them.

Not only a trailer, but a proper one which shows almost all sex positions and fetishes. And ideally screenshots to estimate better how much of the scene was spent for a specific sex position.

no trailer = no buy, no interest
also a trailer just showing the opening credits or a few seconds of the first scene is worthless and = no trailer

No trailer = no buy. It is an essential piece of marketing to highlight the best and most positive parts of the porn scene.
