"They do it for the money" is such a misnomer in this kind of porn discussion I think. I doubt very much that there are too many girls who enter porn purely to make money. More likely I think is that their large sexual appetite and exhibitionism steers them towards it and the money is of course a bonus. In many cases really though it's best to think of the money more as compensation for the drawbacks that girls inevitably face from being in porn. Interesting and centered comment. Yes, porn is a job and the most part of performers, male and female, does it for money not for pleasure. But it's obviously not a "normal" work, it's still sex and sex is pleasure, in some extent. Good actors and actresses actually feel the feelings they portray. That's why their acting looks so real and believable.

I'm maybe a bit more cynical than some here I admit. Seems to me some people really want so much for the fantasy to be true that they end up deluding themselves - not you, you're more realistic about it. I agree. Getting paid for your work doesn't mean that you can't enjoy it.

Or else you would need to say that Nurses hate their jobs, because they get paid for it. Teachers hate their jobs for the same reason. And everybody who gets paid must hate their jobs.

This payment argument makes no sense at all. Because everybody needs to get paid for their work, regardless of whether they enjoy their work or not. Everybody has bills to pay, and working for free isn't an option, no matter how much you enjoy doing your work.

I think porn-stars and other sex-workers often enjoy their work in two different ways.

Physical enjoyment of sex is hardwired into the human body, and it happens automatically, when sexual organs are stimulated in the right way. But with a partner, it depends on how good your partner is in bed with you. Some partners do it in the right way, and some don't.

So, nurses, hospitality workers, and other types of workers often say that this is what makes their work pleasant and good for them. And it probably works this way even more for sex-workers. Because sex-workers please their clients directly by going straight to their pleasure centers. It's not just psychological enjoyment. It's physical enjoyment.

Perhaps not everybody is good at feeling this kind of pleasure. Because some people are naturally empathetic, while others are not. I think that porn-stars who like and enjoy their work are probably more empathetic than those who don't. Because this is a big source of enjoyment for all kinds of workers, including sex-workers.
