This month the UK government was due to launch its porn firewall. They have had difficulties getting it working, but if they do it has some worrying aspects.
The BBFC would be given control of allowed content, currently in the UK some of the sexual acts regularly seen on LP are not allowed on R18 video content, squirting, watersports. I suspect DAP and some of the rough sex would also be dissalowed.
More worrying is that the BBFC may be allowed to request ISPs to ban access to certain websites, LP and GGG would very likely be early targets for the above acts.
There is an article in Wired on the subject.
The UK Wired website - /article/porn-block-ban-in-the-uk-age-verifcation-law
It should be remembered that hard core pornography (anything showing penetrative acts) was banned in the UK prior to the late 1990s. It only became legal when the UK signed up to the European Convention on Human Rights and pornography providers challenged the prosecution of the selling of pornographic material. Now with the UK leaving Europe, the control of the media is being handed back to a right wing government as controled the country in between 1980 and 1997. As an example Ben Dover (Lindsey Honey) and his wife Lindsey Drew were both jailed in the 1980s for distribution of content far milder than anything seen on LP.
The restriction through ISPs is likely to affect the major suppliers, BT, Virgin, Sky, Talk Talk, etc. Those using smaller ISPs might be safe, however major net routing locations might be targeted - I am guessing.
We have already seen the US make some of LPs content banned in that country.
What are people's thoughts on this and how it might be worked around if it is implemented?
