Don't know anyone who still rents them, but I know of some who buy them. There's always going to be a market for physical media. Some people just need their media to be in physical form and won't have it any other way. There are many who'll never give up CDs, vinyl or physical books. I even know some who are still fond of very inferior forms of physical media such as audio cassette tapes and VHS tapes (for their nostalgic value, or whatever).
I personally think that some CDs, vinyl and physical books are still worth buying and not because of the physicality of them or their nostalgic value, but because physical CDs and vinyl releases often sound better than digital downloads and physical books often contain way less typos than their eBook counterparts. Also, if you're into the type of obscure books on the occult that I'm into, it's more than 75% of the time impossible to purchase titles I want in eBook form.
