So if you don't think it makes it better skip such scenes. Maybe you think leather upholstery is better in cars than cloth, maybe you don't. Regardless, leather will cost you more because seats cost more to cover in leather. Com[laining to your local garage that you prefer cloth and so are baffled as to why they are charging more for leather won't reduce the manufacture costs and so won't reduce the cost of that option.
Similarly here, you seem to be conflating your preference for an option that is cheaper to produce with DPConnoisseur's simple argument that scenes that cost more to produce will cost more to purchase. They are different arguments.
