Pain of signing on to Different LP Tabs

I have recently noticed that with the Opera browser, I have to sign into LP (during the same browser session) when using different tabs. For example if I click "Discussions" link to get to the forum, I then have to select sign-in to actually start posting messages in there. This was not the case previously. All new tabs would automatically sync to the signed-on session. Is this due to the Browser or is there some additional security processes that LP have introduced.
