Damn, you're so right!

Even just those examples you have posted are so jarring compared to the 'corrected' ones.
I suppose sometimes it's done to fit a vertical scene into a horizontal space to use more of the screen.
But I totally agree it's over done.
I just didn't realise it until you pointed it out!
